dates of the marathon?

hi everyone Ill be in disney Jan 8-15 with my family (mom dad 18year old brother) and myself (20 at the time)..they said this is when the marathon is..Are alot of people going to this--as will this affect crowds greatly? ...i also wanted to know the exact dates, since i have been seeing different ones

The marathon is January 9, 2005. Usually they dedicate the whole weekend for events though. We were at WDW this year during the marathon and it did NOT interfere with anything we did. Sunday morning - when the marathon takes place, all the parks will have marathoners walking/running through them, but that won't affect your riding at all. Traffic to and from the parks will be affected though. The resorts will probably be full, but almost everyone leaves by Monday morning. That's what happened last year anyway! If you have a chance, you should try to watch the marathoner's on the Boardwalk late Sunday morning. It's very exciting and inspiring. So much so that it pushed me into signing up for it- and I am now in training for it!

karebear-thank you so much for your response..i ddint mean to sound selfish, but this was the first time that i have heard about marathons...id like to see alot of people just to see any DISers ..and maybe some people around my age lol

You didn't sound selfish at all! There is one girl that will be walking with a big group of us Disers that's about your age. Her name is Littlemissmickey (Ashley) I think Ashley is 21. Are you going down there by yourself???
