Dates and WOW factor

Didnt know they did a welcome show at all, think i may have missed out on alot, we always stay at a villa in Kissimmee so that may be why?

If you are driving from Kissimmee, be sure to allow plenty of time, to park and take the monorail or the ferry boat, to go through security and the ticket gate and then, still being early enough for the Welcome show. Trust me, it's worth it!:thumbsup2

It all opens at 9 dont it? Most of the villas we see are about 20mins from Disney so they say, we do like to go for Breakfast before hands most times but we wont it theres a welcome show to see!

Does everybody have a no1 ride the go on 1st at each park? If so what are they?

Opening times vary. You will not be eligible to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours (EMH) because you are not staying onsite, but you can check here http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/ to find out what parks open at what time.

My picks for #1 rides are:

MK - POTC & Haunted Mansion
Epcot - Soarin' & Test Track
DHS - RN'RC & Star Tours
DAK - EE & KS

Have to keep an eye on them opening times then. At the start of October when ill be there, does the Halloween stuff start then or a little later in the month?

Mine would be:

MK: Space Mountain
Epcot: Well the only ride ive been on there is Mission Space :rotfl:
DHS: Tower of terror
AK: Kali River Rapids & Expedition Everest

Talking on Animal Kingdom i dont think ive ever done the DINOSAUR ride lol is it good?

Halloween festivities start at MK in mid-September with the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, a separate hard-ticket event.

So what do the Hallween festivities mean then? What do they do? Never been that time of year!

On selected nights, they sell tickets to a Halloween party at Magic Kingdom, called Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or MNSSHP for short. The park is decorated and there is a special parade and fireworks that in my opinion, are the most awesome I have ever seen. Adults as well as kids can dress up in costume, if they want to and there are candy stations around the park, where everyone is given a bag and can collect candy for free. All the rides are open as well.

That sounds quite good lol never new they did something like that, i did assume they would do something for halloween. The sweets sound well worth getting into it for :rotfl:

Sorry to ask again but the ride DINOSAUR at AK is it any good? Cant recall ever going on it but it seems to look worth a go?

Dinosaur is described as "dark, loud and scary". I can't give you my opinion, because I haven't ridden it.
They also say that it is very bumpy and jerky and is not advisable for people with back issues,...like me!

They do take your picture on this ride, apparently during a good scare.:scared1:

Yeh i did read that, i didnt know if it was a kids ride but by the sound of it, it isnt lol.

Any one with any experience of the ride?

1. The biggest thing I remember about the Dinosaur ride is that I was jerked about non-stop, and not in a fun way. It was loud, but wasn't really scary unless you are 7 years old. It was a ride that I wanted to do but never care to waste Disney time on again!

2. You will also be at Epcot during the Food & Wine Festival that begins Sept. 28th, something that I have never done. The WS in Epcot has food booths set up around the lagoon, many sponsored by countries that aren't permanently represented. The F&W festival is included with your Epcot admission, but you pay for the portions of food. From what I understand, many samples are big enough to share. You can also buy a number of samples of food or wine for a reduced price (3 for $10, for example. I'm guessing at the price, having never been!) I'm hoping to go with my sister this year for the first 4 days.

3. If you haven't booked anything yet, why don't you stay in WDW? It will save a lot of time traveling to and from the parks, you can get in early/stay late for EMH, and you can go back to your resort in the middle of the day when the parks are the most crowded/hot & hop in the pool. :thumbsup2 I don't know what you pay for the villa, but you could probably rent 2 rooms at a Value Resort (Pop Century, or the All-Star Sports/Movie/Music) for about the same price. You might also be able to "rent" a 1 bedroom suite with a pull-out sofa and a kitchenette from a member at a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort.

4. You will also be at WDW over an American holiday, Columbus Day, on Mon. Oct. 8th this year. Many, but by no means all, have this holiday off from work and school, as it is a Federal holiday. That means the parks will probably be a little more crowded on Oct. 6, 7, & 8 as people have a "3-day weekend." Nothing to over worry about, except for making dinner reservations sooner rather than later.

5. WOW factor = walking under the train station at the MK and seeing the castle for the first time! :worship:

6. Favorite Rides:
MK-- Thrill= Space Mt. Fun= Haunted Mansion or Philharmagic
EP-- Thrill= Test Track Fun= Soarin'
HS-- Thrill= Rock & RC Fun= Toy Story
AK-- Thrill= EE Fun= Safari

Just wanted to say :welcome: ! We'll be there at the same time and the crowd level predictions I've seen have been low to moderate, with the exception of the Columbus Day weekend (6, 7, 8 Oct) -- those are fairly high. I second the recommendation of touring Magic Kingdom first. It's just so iconic and beautiful and brings out the wide-eyed child in everyone! I prefer the more sedate, classic rides (it's a small world, Peter Pan's Flight, even the Peoplemover) but I think you should just get a good touring plan and try everything. The wow factor is in the overall experience more than in just one attraction.

And not to assume anything, but since it sounds like you're really trying to impress this girl...you know, there are some stunning places at WDW to create a really fantastic and memorable marriage proposal! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 (are you old enough for that sort of thing?)

Have a great trip!

I agree, Pigletmom! I am a huge fan of staying onsite. There are often some discounts to be found during that time period. You miss out on the whole "immersion factor" of staying at a WDW resort. There really is no comparison.

I personally loved the dinosaur ride! Yes, it tis jerky, but, I guess, the bonus for me is the fact that it produced one of the best "in ride" pics of my family.

My suggestion: the wait will not be long in October, so give it a whirl! We do everest and dinosaur and the pretty much get out of AK. Don't forget about the Nemo show at AK, its be of the best "shows" on property.

Here is my don't miss list:

MK: spend the time to wait in line to see the fairies...my husband is a rough and tough cowboy, but melted when he met Tinkerbell!

Epcot: soarin, I love the American pavilion, but that's the Yankee coming out in me.

AK: everest, get to the safari as soon as the park opens, as in the heat, the animals seek shade.

Hs: tower of terror, rockin roller coaster, toy story.

Eats: Get reservations for Ohana's. It's the best on property.

Thanks everyone only just managed to see your replies, works been busy. Finally booked our holiday today, going on the 28th not the 29th because if you go a day earlier its £200 cheaper :confused3

1. With the dinosaur ride i think i may give it ago if the line is not to long, seems like it will be jerky and shake you about but whilst your there, why not do it :goodvibes

2. We have out villa booked in Kissimmee so i think that will do us, £4100 is enough to spend ill settle there on money for now haha!!

3. Thanks for telling me about Columbus day weekend didnt no that was around that time of year. I appreciate it will be busier but how much bigger? Is it a huge thing you celebrate? or more of a family bbq kind of weekend?

Thanks

It's sort of a regional holiday, some areas of the US observe it more so than others.
I wouldn't worry, it won't impact WDW very much.

Cheers for that im hopeing it wont be a too bad time of year for ride and wait times. Now its finally booked it feels a hell of a lot better :rotfl:

julirina

As much as my girlfriend would like that i dont think ill take you up on that offer :rotfl: Im old enough but if i want to go to Florida i cant afford a wedding haha dont worry she knows that!

Maybe in the Future?

Make sure your girlfriend knows that the weather will still be summer-like when you are at WDW and to pack accordingly - including sunscreen!:sunny:

I was wondering what people think would be the best place to start to Really WOW her? I dont think it should be hard compared to England :rotfl:

Thanks for your answers.

Adam

Hey Adam, don't dismiss your own country too fast. England is very beautiful and has a wonderful array of history, culture and beautiful architecture. It's easy to think the grass is always greener. In fact, most of my overseas trips have been to the UK rather than visiting the US (even ended up living there for a while). Compared to the US, the UK wins out with me every time (except this year).

PS: I've seen so many Americans experience the WOW factor in London and areas of the midlands. It's pretty relative.
