Date & Rate.....2008!

Hi - I have:

August
10th - 13th
HRH
Garden view
AAA Rate
$269/night
1st time staying; level is Blue

To all the experts: is this a good rate? Should I be looking at something like Bed & Breakfas Promotiont? Need the experts to help.

It is customarily cheaper to book room and tickets a la carte at Universal vs a package.....I'm not sure if your rate is good for your dates, as I normally don't go in Aug OR stay at HRH...but, someone will come along and let you know..... ;)

YAY... just booked Dec. 15-19 for RPR

Super saver rate at $171 per night:cool1:

I went to the loews site first and got my #, then called Universal directly to book. I tried through the website but the Loews # wasn't active yet. The nice lady at Universal noted my Loews # on my reservation and gave me the online rate:woohoo: I'm so excited! I can't wait!

snap.

i forgot all the questions you asked.

let me go back and read again.

i'll be back

but i will be at hrh oct 9-13

and i see erica will be there during my time also.
hi erica.........remember me, schaumberg tickets for medieval times?

RPR
Standard
$494 total including tax
AAA special internet rate (advanced payment required, but it's refundable until 14 days prior to check-in)
No LF upgrades

Considering it's for memorial day weekend, I thought this was a pretty good rate. I used the AAA website, selected only Loews hotels, and I was trying lots of different dates. Most of the rates that I found seemed to be just the regular rates. But when I did the search for these particular dates, then clicked on RPR, this rate listing was different than the rest. On the page that lists all the different rates for a particular hotel, there were two listings for RPR that both said "from $220". One of them looked like all the rest, but one of them had a notation that said "taxes included" and "advanced payment required". This is the one that I selected and it turned out to have a rate of $220 for the first night and $274 for the second. But both of those included taxes.

These rates are different than the standard AAA discounts. They come from a partnership between AAA and American Tours International. I guess ATI reserves blocks of rooms for their tour packages and they sell the excess through AAA. On our first visit to Orlando, I booked the Fairfield at Marriott Village during spring break for $42 / night using this discount program. But at that time, these rates couldn't be found through the regular hotel search on AAA. Instead, you had to find their "exclusives" or "hot deals" or "private collection" links.

So then the free dining promotion and the free ticket promotion really don't mean anything? :confused3 I tried plugging in information but it was not giving me the free dining price. We are looking to go in August during value season. I finally have Disney mastered and now I am trying to get a feel for Universal. I feel like I am starting from scratch,:headache: so many questions!

if you book a package for UO that has free dining/breakfast and tickets, add it all up separately to see how you come out ahead.

you can call the ressie clerks at UO resort and they will tell you what deals, bargains, specials that will be happening for the dates you plan to visit.

i have in the beginning called to see if the rates they had that i had not seen on any sites were available.
they were better bargains and they booked it for me.

just play around with the numbers some and see what is best for you.

when you book and give your loews number, you need to request the upgrade at the time of booking.

at blue you are supposed to request the free upgrade when checking in but you can also ask for it at booking time.

you might be surprised and get the upgrade at that point before you even leave on your trip.
if rooms are available for your time period, you will get it.

if you wait until you arrival, it might not be available.

for platinum, it is guaranteed for the free upgrade. that is why i always book garden view standard. i get my upgrade free.
the upgrade is different for each hotel.

hrh upgrade for platinum is the king suite.
different for the rph and pbh.

when i was at blue level, i received the upgrade 3 times.
rooms were available for my dates.
i was lucky.

call back and see if you can upgrade now.
all they can say is no.

then, try again when you check in if you can't now.
could be cancellations at the time you go.

I know how you feel....I once felt I knew everything about WDW...I was totally clueless when it came to UO. But, now it feels opposite

Usually, the $79 ticket for 7 consecutive days is what most buy. The dining plan is called Meal Deal and involves a wrist band, all you can eat and mostly CS. If City Walk restaurants are included, it's usually a 'limited' menu to choose from... :sad2:

Like macraven said, you just need to add up a la carte vs your package....see what works best for you :thumbsup2

oh...and feel free to ask as many questions as you need to....we don't flame over here ;)

Hi Bubba's mom! I wish I could ride it! I am going to send my husband on first to see if I can handle it!:rotfl2: We just got the doctor's O.K. for my son to travel ( we have been trying since Christmas!) so we just had to head back to our favorite place! We have not been back to RPR in over a year and a half so I am really looking forward to it( our very first trip to Universal was to RPR so it has wonderful memories.)

Will you be there at the same time?!! Now I am really looking forward to this trip!:yay: Will you be at HRH or RPR? Remember I told you they were going to add club level on for us for the Christmas trip? I called back to make this reservation and they remembered! So we get the King Suite with club added on. I requested tower three - high floor- so I will let you know how it goes.

Macraven!!! Where have you been??? I have sent you several e-mails but never heard from you...( I thought you were mad at me?)....If you want to join us you can stay in our suite! The more the merrier....
