DAS Pass Return Time denied at California Screamin: Should I have done something about it?

Hiya there everyone, I'm curious about a incident I experienced yesterday, and if I should have done anything about it, or if it was best to just forget about it!

So well, I set up a return time for California Screamin last night, as the wait time was enormously long thanks to the closing of Disneyland early, and well, this is a coaster we like to attempt every time we go with our APs. Anyway, our return time was 7:50. We did a few things while we waited, and then we arrived at California Screamin around 8:00. Area of the park was packed sadly. We went to the CM for California Screamin fast passes entrance, and she denied us entrance. Saying that World of Color was starting soon and they are no longer accepting anyone into the ride since the line was enormous thanks to the closing of Disneyland We just left since well, we were tired and wanted to go home anyway.

So my question is..
1. Should I have specified it was a Disability Return Time? Whenever we use the pass, we just say we have a return time. Would this have made a difference or not?
2. Should we have asked the CM for a return time for another ride, or some kind of Fastpass for anything else?

Thanks in advance!

What time did the park close that night?

I know at WDW, they close down certain ride queues before the park closes now. Do they do that regularly at DL and CA too?

Mentioning it was a DAS return might have made a difference but maybe not. They definitely close down California Screamin and some others along paradise pier for WoC. I think they have to be pretty strict on that so its down in time for WoC to start.

The park closed at 12:00 AM

I understand this, it does make a lot of sense.even still, do you think if I mentioned that, the CM could have gave us a Fastpass for any ride as a comp?

I would've mentioned it was a DAS time since you'd already waited... But I guess someone with a FP would have waited too.

It would've at least clarified the policy for next time.

They might have. In my experience they try to help when they can!

If the park closed at midnight then that ride should have reopened after the second WOC show. Since DAS returns don't expire you could have used it then. Or gone to a kiosk and ask for another return time or some consideration. If it's a capacity issue and they are also turning away FPs then what else can they do? I don't see how they could save spots for all the outstanding FPs and DAS returns when the ride is about to close before WOC and the line starts to reach the point where they can only accommodate the people in it before their hard close time.

I don't think there's anything they can do when the higher ups say they can't let anyone else in line. It would be the same if you returned to the line 10 minutes after the park had closed. It has nothing to do with DAS and everything to do with the time and rules.

I don't think it would have made a difference. They close the line, the ride breaks down, etc. it doesn't matter if you have a DAS return time or a FP.

Same thing happened to us, however, it was the Storybook Canal. We had a DAS return time, waited until our return time and then went up to the CM and presented our tickets. The CM was nice, but, stated that Storybook Canal was closing for the parade. They had closed the line and wouldn't even scan our tickets. My DD and I just went over to the kiosk and got a return time for another attraction. We got no "compensation" for already waiting for Storybook Canal. Not a biggie and it was still a fun day!

Hope you were able to enjoy your day!

If the line was closed for safety reasons during World of Color, DAS or not DAS would not have made a difference. Once they determined they could no longer let people in line, that would be it.

DAS Return Times have a beginning time, but not an end time. If World of Color was re-opening again after World of Color was finished, you could have held onto the DAS Return Time and used it after the line re-opened.
If it was not, or you chose not to wait, your option would have been to get a DAS Return Time for something else, as others suggested.
