I did video chat today to preregistrater for a DAS, which I have used several times at WDW since it became necessary.

While the cast member today agreed that I am unable to wait in the normal queue, she said that I don’t qualify for DAS because I have other members in my part who can stand in line. When they get to the front, they should call me and I should join their party.

This was a surprise to me, and I just wanted to let others know that it might be a possibility.

Try again and make sure you’re talking to a different CM. Maybe even try on a different day. This does not sound right at all but Disney is notorious for CM giving out bad information in all departments honestly. I don’t even understand how that would work, like the whole line of people is gonna let you through all the way up to the front? Fat chance. You would be subject to a lot of anger all day long, that would be a horrid trip…

I don’t know. I thought about that, but she acted like it was the DL policy.

My issue with it is spending most of the day alone when I am on a family vacation.

I second the “try again even though the wait may be long”.

Disney is pretty specific that line jumping is not permitted - that policy has been around for a long time. I find it really weird that suddenly they are saying TO jump the line. I’m calling a very badly misinformed CM.

The thought of having to push through the whole line to get up with your group sounds like a nightmare to me. I feel the CM is telling you to line jump.

For your own safety, please don't do as the CM advised.
Give the per-registration for DAS another try or sign up when you are in the parks.

Have a fun trip!

Try again. This is actual advice that has been given to us before by many cast members - have one person in our party wait in line and have my daughter and the other parent meet up at the front of the line. We’ve always told them that won’t work for us. We are on vacation as a family and we are not going to spend the entire vacation waiting in separate areas for attractions. In addition, it’s not especially helpful advice for a person with anxiety around people. CMs have always agreed after saying this to them.

We were only told this ONCE, for Jungle Cruise. That I could 'stand over there' (no place to sit in view of the queue) until my party reached a certain spot in line where I could easily be let in without having to walk up the line. Now granted, my major problem at the time was mostly climbing stairs but standing for a long time was also a bit of an issue.

Any other time we were simply given a return time.

What was their suggestion for rides that don’t have easy access to rejoin the line? Thinking of something like RSR - there is no good place to join that line.

ETA: DD qualifies because she sometimes needs to be able to leave a line quickly and we’ve found many are hard/impossible to rejoin. They’ve always agreed with us.

They said I could go through the exit or a cast member at the entrance would give me guidance.

That’s frustrating. There are rides that just don’t have a good rejoin place. We ran into that on a trip which is what made us get the DAS in the first place.

I agree with everybody else that I would call again or just do it in person.

ETA: DD actually needs to be able to exit a line quickly, in addition to being able to rejoin, so maybe that’s why we’ve never had an issue.

Um, no. That's absolutely not how things work at Disneyland. NO CM will allow that. If you tried to pull something like that actually in the park, the CM would flat out tell you to go ask for a DAS.

OP, I don't know the nature of your disability, but absolutely inquire about DAS in the park. You really don't need the advance selections. And getting a DAS in park is so easy, and the cast members there really are great and want to help. We renew a DAS every 60 days in park and have never been given a hard time.

I haven’t called again. I had decided to get there and see how things go.

I appreciate all the help. I’m glad to hear there might still be a chance that I can spend the day with my family instead of waiting alone. I will talk to them when I get there.

Thank you!

So do we still have to get a DAS pass when bringer our own scooter I have a very bad hip and can’t stand or walk for more than a few minutes and my oldest son uses a wheelchair we were told on our last trip in 2018 that with the wheelchair and scooter we didn’t need the pass

Unless you have other needs that are not met by the ECV and wheelchair, you are correct and you don't need a DAS.

I actually did the video chat yesterday for the DAS at DL for a similar reason, having to quickly exit a line due to my health issue, and the CM told me the same thing. That I could exit and just go back into the line to meet my party or ask a CM at the ride entrance/exit to let me back in. I was very skeptical as this almost never happens at WDW. So my DAS request was denied. Should I do another video chat? or just wait until I get to the parks next month and do it in person?

That would be more of a nightmare at DLR than even WDW due to the smaller cues.

Personally I’d try another one this week during the week when you have a better chance of a properly trained CM (vs the lowly ranked ones who got the privilege of working the weekend/holiday). If it doesn’t work try in person.

I completely believe you, but this is frustrating to hear. There are some lines that aren’t easy to exit when you’re stuck in the middle of them.

Now I’m wondering if it’s worth trying ahead of time or just doing in it person and forgoing the advance reservations.

Thank you. I'll try at 12est my time when they open. I'll be at lunch, hopefully I can get it done by 1pm.

I was frustrated but I also know they are just doing their job so I didn't push it. I worry they'll have a record of me being denied and not let me request again. I'll be trying again later today when they reopen. I'll be at lunch eastern time right when they open.

Please update how it goes. I was worried about the record too!
