DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

I’ve certainly waited more than 5 minutes in a grocery line, a line to get into the DMV, to vote, the bank, to pick up food for carry out, any number of places.

Not saying it’s a long as some Disney lines, but there is plenty of waiting in lines.
How strange, if I ever see a longer line outside the parks, I just come back another time, although it is very rare to see a longer line and 10 minutes is about my max outside the parks, same for DH.

We discussed this I believe several months back and I guess you still don't believe people despite many posters talking about lines out in the real world. Only a few months back it was "I can’t think of a single instance where there are lines over 15 minutes in my day to day life outside of a theme park." and this time you're asking about 5 mins.
I am not asking about 5 minutes, I am asking where are people waiting over 15 minutes, I stated I would rarely wait more than 5 minutes outside a theme park setting, nothing inconsistent there, sorry, but I just don’t see theme park long lines outside of theme parks.

If you can’t even do 10min I’m not sure how DAS even worked for you in the past. There were many times the LL were minimum 20min, sometimes more as they were outside th e actual queue. At times we had to skip the ride or come back later because the LL was even too long (one reason Disney made these changes to limit DAS)

I'm sorry you're still confused and unaware of how others experience things. The answers aren't really going to change from prior discussions back in June where you asked this exact same stuff and were given a multitude of places and scenarios from various posters.

Lines at passport offices. Lines at Service Ontario (where we renew drivers licences/health cards). Lines to get blood work done (especially first thing in the morning when you have to fast). I’ve been in all of these lines this week. lol.

Airport is the main one that comes to mind. To check in, check a bag, get through security. Many of those can be long. We pay for pre-check to avoid long TSA lines. Hotel check ins, also lines for busses at Disney or to get food.

Are you talking standing and waiting or waiting anywhere? In a car is a major one too. Many people get stuck in traffic and are unable to just get out of the car.

Personally??? I think we should STOP providing examples of where we encounter lines that aren't in a theme park, this was part of WHY i qualified for my DAS Pass and I think it falls under the category of providing scripts to be followed. If you are someone who does not encounter lengthy waits in your day-to-day life, consider yourself very fortunate.

I doubt anyone will know or tried/spoken with them yet; but considering they’ve increased the 120 days to 240 days - do we think that they would increase existing DAS approvals to coincide with this change if you requested?
Obviously this change was made off the back of feedback of having to do the ‘interview’ over and over and the anxiety that comes with it. So I wonder if they’ll be considerate enough for people already approved under the previous 120 day timeframe that would appreciate that extra time.

I think someone shared in maybe the approvals post that they asked about their 120 being updated to 240 and were denied.

I don't think so

That makes sense.
It's going forward from the date it began, no going to add it retroactively

Sorry for asking again, but just wondering if there has been any reports yet of parties of 2 where the DAS applicant is unable to wait in line due to anxiety as well as pretty major bathroom issues but also can’t be left outside the line whilst their partner waits in line in case they need assistance?

I’ve asked in the past but there hasn’t been any examples at that point.

Do you mean examples of how it works or examples of people getting approved for DAS in this scenario? I believe you will need to approach the CM at each attraction and ask them what to do if you need to leave the line, then they will give you options (like leave line IF need arises, then come back and see them)

Sorry, yeah, I meant in terms of whether DAS is ever granted in that scenario (I’ve always been granted it in the past, but that was the previous iteration of it), and if not granted, what the likely solution would be?

Leaving a line 2 or 3 times and returning all while using an ECV (I also have a major mobility issue) sounds like an absolute nightmare.

I would expect DAS to be denied. My understanding is that Disney will most likely expect you to enter the queue, and if one needs to leave they will allow a caregiver as well. The procedure for returning to the queue may differ based on attraction so it's suggested to ask prior to entering the queue.

Thanks, this sounds like an awful experience considering I have to use an ECV, and navigating those things against the flow of a line potentially every 30 minutes or so sounds horrifying.

Never thought I’d feel massive anxiety and fear around going to Disney, but here we are.

I would expect to be denied. Reports have been that different queues may offer different option depending on party size, how long the queue is, etc. Ask before you enter the queue and Explain that you may need to leave and worry with an ECV it will be problematic. You can ask for a return time instead. They may or may not give you one, but doesn’t hurt to ask I guess.

If the longer lines are your main concern and causing anxiety (which also causes bathroom issues) you could buy LLMP and prebook your rides. That might help ease your anxiety.

Thanks for the responses. I don’t even have an issue with the new DAS criteria per say, if we travelled in groups larger than 2 then I could absolutely have someone do the line for me, but sadly that’s not an option for me on most trips.

Return times just worked for my issues, but I get it, if it’s being abused, something has to be done.

We were told that there would be extra attraction wheelchairs and if we were more comfortable using one of those we could just ask. Would your caregiver be able to push you through the line with the wheelchair? - it would make it easier to maneuver if needed. And when we were there last week I looked and there were 2-3 wheelchairs folded to the side at many of the longer line attractions.
