Darn it.. heads up you guys.. USAir UPDATE

I am the one on the right, correct?

I'm the taller one, right??? (hehehehehe)

Now Livia darling I will remember that.... ;)

For all you people scared of the dark: You can come meet me at the airport at 1100PM on the 27th. Luckily I am one of those people who just barrels on through with head held high ignoring everyone who gets in my way. Who am I kidding? This is first solo trip like this I have taken in over 20 years. I won't get to my hotel until 1230 or 1am. Luckily I know where I am going (I think) ;)

Tammy...hi and welcome!!!

I am one of those chickens who will be traveling at night, but who knows maybe if I am lucky I can change my ressies to earlier in the day. I am hoping.....Yikes!

Where are you staying Tammy?

Now for a picture of myself contemplating Splash Mountain

my first night (Nov 27th) is at the Grosvenor (DTD) checking in real late without AP then getting AP and checking into All Star Music or Movies (don't remember which) for the rest of the trip. I save a whooping $9 that first night but since I won't actually have the AP yet for the AP rate I feel better. Ethics are such a wonderful thing to have. I grew up with WDW and have been many times in my young life and am a great navigator (drives my husband nuts) so I remember where most things are even if it has been awhile since I've been there and at 1230 in the morning I shouldn't have to worry about traffic.

Pretty cunning how I wrangled an AP out of this isn't it. Now I get to go back next year for the convention because I have this AP I need to use (can't have it go to waste)

For the flight down Pittsburgh they changed our flight number, but I think they are just combining 2 flights that leave at the same time, becuase now they only show one. Then coming home we were to leave Orlando at 11:35 a.m. and they changed our flight to leave at 11:04 a.m., which isn't bad. Still non-stop both ways, but I wish they would have changed the trip home to later. We may not be able to attend the farwell breakfast since we'll have to be at the airport by 9:00 at the latest and will probably want to be there more like 8:30. we were notified by e-mail since we booked online.

Oh well, things could be worse! Who knows, they could change again. They recommended that we verify our itinerary "just prior to departure whether or not you have received notice of additional changes."

:( HMMMMMM. I hope not!!

I called Continental last week and they verified that my flights have not changed...as of yet. Course I'm leaving Denver (where they have the worst (longest) security lines) at 6:30 in the morning. Guess that means I'll have to be at the airport around 4:30 am. I made all these plans before September 11th, and wouldn't be a bit surprised if things change.

Got an email from USAir this evening informing me that my segment from Pittburgh to Orlando had been cancelled. I quickly called the 800 number and got a new (earlier) connecting flight. Now I just hope the flight from Akron/Canton isn't late because I only have 35 minutes to make the connection. Yikes!

So it cost me $100 to make a change, but they can cancel my flight and make me rearrange my schedule for nothing. What's wrong with this picture. Afterall, who is the customer here?

John, isn't that $100 fee for changes a JOKE!!! Same thing here.....if they cancel my flight...no 'credit' for me, but if I make the change.....$100 each time! Grrrr!

:::screaming::: WHERE'S THE JUSTICE????????????????

Okay, I'm cool  now. ;)

Well, I just got my notice of change. My flight down is still the same. I leave Allentown at 7:35 am and arrive at MCO at 10:09 am. (I really like getting there early in the morning) But, my flight home has been bumped up 2 hours and they've added a stop! Darn it! I now leave MCO at 7:20 PM, instead of 9:10 pm.(so I lose about an hour in the parks & gain it in the air. WooHoo!) I arrive home at approximately the same time, but now have a stop in Pittsburgh and it looks like I have to change planes, too! I get into Pittsburgh at 9:41 pm and leave again at 10:45 pm. So I have an hour to get lost and for them to screw up my luggage! I purposely picked these flights because they are non-stop. It's not catastrophic, but I'm not real happy about the change. I can't wait to see what they pull in the next month.
You know, I wondered what would happen if they messed up my flights and I had to change, now I know! I can't believe they made you pay the $100 for something they did!!! That really stinks to high heaven!! At this time, when everyone is afraid to fly, you'd think they would waive some of those stupid fees. So much for customer service!!

well, my Dec. trip is going to be a living hell...5 hours from take off to landing with an hour lay over at reagan national...yikes, with 4 kids!

Now, I must say I am impressed with Southwest Airlines. They called to say that my flight had been cancelled on the way down and to choose another time. I picked 3:45 on 11/27 and booked it. then I got to thinking, and wanted to leave earlier. I called expecting a charge and nothing. If there is room and the fare is comperable there is no charge to change. I was so pleased. I even ended up with a credit of $20 because the flight was cheaper ...How cool is that? So now, I get into MCO at 2:15.....yippeeeee!!!! A whole 24 hours earlier than I was originally going to get there...Now if I could only talk my DH into letting me leave Monday night....lol  ;)

Glo, does that mean you can join us at Whispering Canyon for dinner on the 27th? A bunch of early arrivals are meeting for dinner that night. We figured we'd invade WDW early! :D

So far our flights on Delta are unchanged. I'm only hoping they stay that way! We arrive on Nov. 24 and leave on Dec. 1. I can hardly wait to go!

Pittsburgh isn't that hard to find your way around and if you are close on your arrival and departure times, just let someone know (maybe the flight attendant on your plane into Pgh so they can notify someone at the gate) and they will have a cart available to drive you from one gate to the other. Although with 35 minutes between flights you shouldn't have a problem getting from one gate to the other if your flight lands on time. Hope this helps!
:)

Thanks Norma. I'm not too concerned about missing my connection. There are at least 4 more flights from PIT to MCO on 11/28. I'd just like to arrive in Orlando ASAP. I just wish that USAir would cancel my return flights. :)

Barb - Towncrier had to pay a $100 change fee because HE changed his flight home to a day later...BEFORE the airline changed his outbound flights!

Just got a call from my travel agent. The airline cancelled my return flight on December 3. Now I can either fly back on Dec. 2 or Dec. 6.
Already bought a ticket for MVMCP on Dec. 2 and I don't want to miss that.
So, maybe I'll just have to stay until Dec. 6......... But, my AP is only valid thru December 2 and I'll need 3 extra hotel nights - so this will be expensive. Decisions, decisions........

Great news Sandra. You will be at WDW during the celebration of Walt Disney's 100th birthday on December 5th. I certainly wish that USAir would cooperate and cancel some portion of my return flight so that I might have justification to stay a few extra days.

Oh, thanks for reminding me about Walt's birthday - that's great!!
Do you know if they will be doing something special that day?

Sandra,

I think I saw somewhere they were serving Corn, Emu Legs, and Beavertails...could be wrong :D :D
