Dapper Day - Spring 2016

We just booked three nights for this April and were able to get a great rate at the GCH since Dapper Days will be going on. We plan to check out the convention stuff on Saturday at the DH but won't be able to stay for the actual "dress-up" day in the parks on Sunday.

Has anyone gone during this time? How crowded is it normally during this last week of April? Any tips for us to make the most of being there during what sounds like a fun event?

Our group is going April 28-May 4th, for Dapper Days. Doing a split stay DGC & DLH. Our first time for Dapper Days....... Looking for tips also.

It is hit and miss. This year is also bat day that week so you will have 2 separate party events going on. With it being I May I can't really comment because you are getting closer to summer, but when we have done it in February it was fairly empty. Most families used their vacation time over Christmas so Feb was awesome. Don't know what may will be like

Our main plan is "go with the flow". But thanks for the heads up as to it being a different month then usual and Bats Day overlapping. Sounds fun !
We've got plenty of days to take our time, somewhat. Our group of 5 cousins (early 60's) taking my Mom and celebrating her 86th birthday. So, it's all about her and the Magic & Fun of Disney !

We will be there the last week in April, and are excited to participate in Dapper Days. Unfortunately, unless I add a day, we leave on April 30th so we will miss the main event of dressing up in the Parks. Am I right about that?

I am wondering how much Dapper Days (and Bats Day) affects crowds. Anyone been and can give experience? I read somewhere here on the DIS that someone said they avoid Dapper Days but they did not say if it was a crowd issue or they just don't like it for another reason.

It's from the 30th to the first but the "day in the park " is Sunday may 1st

A lot of people come for the weekend and dress up both Saturday and Sunday, although the official Dapper Day is May 1st. The expo goes on Saturday and Sunday also. Each Dapper Day becomes more crowed, and like big83 said, last Sept the park closed due to capacity on Dapper day. It was so packed in the evening, we just got on the train and rode around the park about 3 times, because it was too crowded to do anything else. With Bat Day being the same day, I would expect it to be just as crowded this time too.

It's fun, if you are part of the event, but if not, I agree that it might be a good weekend to stay away!

Thanks for the info! We will be arriving Wednesday morning and leaving Saturday evening. Hoping the weekdays won't be too bad and looking forward to the expo on Saturday! Still need to figure out what to wear that day - plenty of time to decide though and I still have weight to lose before then too!

Shoes are the hardest part! Start with a comfy pair of flats and go from there.

We are arriving Monday and leaving on Saturday so I am thinking most of our park days won't be affected too much. I would like to attend the expo on Saturday but yeah, what to wear?!?! Shoes do seem the hardest to choose lol! Our park days are Tues-Fri. The only day I am thinking may be tremendously affected is Friday.

I'll be going to Dapper Day in the fall, do you think it'll hit capacity then as well? It would be my second DL trip, but my boyfriend first, and I don't want it to be a let down.

The prior Fall Dapper Day was a Friday in Mid-September, the second weekend of Halloween Time. The 60th Anniversary is likely the largest contributor to crowds, but Dapper Day and Halloween Time created a "perfect storm".

The next Fall Dapper Day is a Sunday in early November, with holiday decorations being installed. It seems unlikely the park will go to capacity -- although every weekend is busy.
