Has anyone done the Danube River Cruise / Europe. We are trying to get info before we book it.
Curious to know how was the boat and food. Also if you are prone to sea sickness will it be an issue.
I would think the water is flat.
Thank you.I did this cruise on the first sailing with ABD. The food was outstanding!!! I am very prone to sea sickness and will need to take Bonine on an ocean cruise even when the sea is super calm. I never felt the motion of the voyage on the river and did not need any Bonine throughout the trip. This was one of our favorite ABD trips and one that we would actually repeat. Here is a link to my trip report on the Danube River cruise.

I concur with this. Fabulous trip, gorgeous ship, great food, amazing crew. Not a hint of seasickness, even though I'm prone to it.I did this cruise on the first sailing with ABD. tyI wear a patch on ocean cruises and did not use one on the river cruise. The boat is really beautiful, lots of areas to relax in the lounge and on the deck.
The staff was really wonderful. I was worried that because they typically don’t travel with children that they might not enjoy having them onboard. It was quite the opposite, they really embraced having the children onboard and seemed to genuinely enjoy them.
The food was very good and plentiful.
We truly enjoyed our Danube River Cruise!
May I ask, is booking the tour by Adventures By Disney, much different than if I were to book a European River cruise directly through Amawaterways?

Are you looking at the porthole rooms or the "French Balcony"? Because if it's the French Balcony, they are every bit as good as a "real" balcony in my estimation. I loved the French Balcony. If you're looking at the portholes, they're fine, but they're pretty high up, so you don't get much of a view from your room. But there are plenty of places on the ship to sit and watch the river go by!For the river cruise, how much does your room selection matter? I was looking at the holiday cruise, and I am thinking that it's not super important to have a balcony that time of year? Or is it worth getting the better room?

Thanks, that's helpful. So sounds like I can just book the less expensive room if we go for it. My husband still isn't convinced... he's worried it will be too cold.We have been on two holiday cruises with ABD. On the Danube in 2017 we were upgraded from "D" to AA I believe. We never used the balconies (there was a French and regular!) since it was coooold to us! Last year on the Rhine we had two D rooms and honestly didn't really miss the French (or regular) balcony. That might be different in summer months but just fine for the Holiday cruise, imho.
