Dangerous toys from Christmases past

Daisy air rifles. My brother and I both received one for Christmas--I was 6 and he was 4.
😱
My cousin was a few years older than me and I thought his was fake, he took it outside for all the cousins to play with and it was absolutely not fake:scared:

My kiddo engraved their initials into a wood chair. 😏
We had one too and used it on a toy chest.

Crazy we got these things, then again our Halloween costumes were unbreathable plastic we couldn't even see through soooo

I had the metal Erector set, a wood burning kit, chemistry set, and creepy crawlers/thing maker. Also a monster mold set where you had to melt wax and pour it into molds to make wax monster figures.
Cool! 😎

I was really good at Click Clacks (aka Klackers); they were a super popular fad for a few years. My friends and I would bring them to school and play with them at recess. My family also had the Creepy Crawler maker, chemistry set, erector set and Jarts.

And of course, we rode our bikes almost every day (sometimes with a passenger on the handlebars, or doubled up on the banana seat) with no helmet!

I had a Vac-U-Form.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vac-U-Form

Based on the industrial process of vacuum forming, a rectangular piece of plastic was clamped in a holder and heated over a metal plate. When the plastic was soft, the holder was swung to the other side, over a mold of the object to be formed. Then quickly and repeatedly pressing down on a spring-loaded handle on the side of the unit created a vacuum, sucking the plastic down over the mold and shaping it to it. When the plastic cooled it solidified, making an impression of the item.

Loved the click clack things!

My brother had the chemistry set, by the time I came along, I was not allowed near it. I wonder what happened that my mom realized it was not to be played with. I loved my wood burning tool, and yes, I definitely played with a broken thermometer/mercury at least once. DH had lawn darts. I think his parents still have them. we both had bb guns growing up.
