We're in DL in 9 days and I just fell and hurt my ankle/leg. Going to the doc....

I hope it's not hurt too bad! But, don't be super anxious about Disney over it. It may heal by then, but if it doesn't, you can rent an ECV and still have a great time!

Here's hoping for a quick recovery!

Everything I've read about ECV they are a major pain to deal with, I hope I don't need one. My leg is a swollen mess right now.

Oh no! Definitely check in with the doc to make sure its not to major, otherwise stay off of it, ice it, elevate it, .... do whatever you can to make it feel better before your trip. Make sure to bring some ibuprofen with you to DLR to keep the swelling down. :thumbsup2 Let us know what your doctor says. :)

You just rolled it, walk it off, walk it off. :)

I don't know how you are traveling but if on a plane try to see if they can accomodate you to elevate it for the whole flight. In a car I'm sure you can figure out a way unless you are the driver.

Actually if you have to stay off leg rent an ECV at Deckerts. They deliver and pick up (of if staying on site they pick up and deliver via the bell service). I needed one this last trip and chose the 4 wheel one instead of a 3 wheel. I am medium size person but felt the 4 wheel was a bit more stable. The 3 wheel will make a tighter turn. This company is easy to work with and best part is you can take to motel with you. :)

I hope you will get good news from the doctor. It is just the pits this happened. :(. Don't let it put to much of a downer on your trip. You will always remember this for sure.

I can totally relate. I'm the queen of twisted ankles! While waiting for your appointment, keep it elevated and keep the ice on it. A bag a frozen veggies works well because you can mold it around your leg. Stay off of it as much as you can. If the doc orders rest, do it. Don't cheat. That just makes the recovery longer. Hope it ends up being a minor sprain and that you feel better soon!:)

My DH uses an ECV. It's a moderate pain, but so worth it when you consider there is no way he could do Disney without it! I agree to rent offsite if you do need one. We own ours and it's a 3-wheel one. We haven't had any trouble with stability with it and the 3-wheel models have a smaller turning radius.

But, hopefully it is a moot point and your leg/ankle will be better by then!

Oh no! How terrible! Keep us posted how it is going and take good care of it.

I'm sorry! :( An ECV is better than having an uncomfortable trip. You can also use it to minimize the time spent on your feet (i.e., take the ECV from Main Street to Fantasyland, then walk around Fantasyland, etc.).

Hope your ankle/leg heals so you don't need it, though! :flower3:

Well, I'm back from the doc. I tore a bunch of ligaments in my ankle. They gave me a boot and crutches. They said I should still be in the boot for DL, but probably not the crutches.

Those of you that are familiar with ECV.... do you thing I should go ahead and rent one? Also, can the shutte at the CCI accomodate an EVC?

Thanks so much for the well wishes and advice. I'm keeping th faith, hoping I'm much better in 9 days!

Ouch! Don't know about the CCI, but I would say just do whatever you are comfortable with. Sending get well soon wishes! :grouphug:

You are so close to the park -you will beat your family there if they take shuttle and you take the ECV. Trust me on this one. :). I do think they have handicapped service though. It will take prob 5-8 mins to get EVC on bus-- then short very short trip to park. EVCing to park might take you 3-5 mins.

I would get the EVC as walking with that boot can be very tiring. Good luck. Hope even with this you have a great trip.

I don't know if is an option, but what about those wheeled contraptions where you bend your leg and then rest the knee of the injured leg on the little wheeled thing and walk with the good leg and roll the injured leg. Do you know what I'm talking about? I see those around here sometimes when people have those boots on and I always think they're such a good idea.

Of course if the park is crowded maybe that wouldn't be such a good plan--you wouldn't want your ankle getting bumped. You'd have to make sure someone walked next to your ankle so nobody walked into it.

At any rate, I hope you feel better soon. Your injury sounds very painful!

I know it won't be healed for your trip but I hope you at least feel better by then.

I too would rent the ECV. They probaby aren't easy to manuveur if you aren't used to one, but you need to protect your ankle from the crowds as much as you can.

I've been shopping around for ECV rentals. 45/day is the best I can find so far. I may just rent a wheelchair at DL for 12/day. Not sure what to do. :confused3

Im so sorry that this happened to you! I too hope that you feel better by the time you go on vacation.

Sorry this happened to you! A few weeks before our trip I pulled the heck out of my hamstring in my left leg. I rested it a lot. Lots of ice and heat also. Thankfully I was able to walk okay on the trip, but bending down and getting up and down in to certain rides wasn't the most pleasant! It's been a month now and I still can't fully bend without pain. Just bad luck to do such things right before a trip! I hope you can feel well enough to walk on it, I dreaded the thought of having to rent something while we were there.
