Maybe that's how they finally figured out how to skew the voting. Everyone is allowed 50 votes total.
Let's say: All of Alix's fans voted only for her. And they didn't vote for anyone else.
Yet, most of us who watched all season maybe voted for two or three stars. So, most stars got cross votes and secondary votes.

All of those added up to more than 1 fan voting only 10 times for one star.
Does that math make sense? Or only in my mind?
