Dancing With the Stars - Fall 2021

Thanks for the details. I had no idea but it doesn't surprise me that the votes are rigged, whether bought or not. I said the same thing many times about American Idol. It's not a real competition; it's all about who is the most popular and can get the votes. That is super frustrating.

Yes, if the producers or a star is going to rig the votes then don't say it's a competition. Make it a fictionalized movie. We've seen many movies with races or competitions and loved them. It didn't matter that we weren't involved. We went along for the journey and to root for the results. It was less frustrating than this pretense that we can really affect the outcome. :badpc:

My biggest peeve about all these shows,,American Idol, America's Got Talent, Voice, DWTS, etc..is that they open the votes as soon as the show starts. So people are voting, not even knowing how the people they are voting for are going to do that night. Sometimes a lot of them are terrible, yet they get the votes to stay. It's really started to turn me off shows like this

While I think it is fine the viewers can vote, the TV judges should still have an influence in who stays and who goes. If it's supposed to be a dance competition, then someone shouldn't advance/win just because they are popular outside of the show. I am not a dance expert, but clearly B. Bones was NOT nearly as good at dancing as many of his competitors. The whole point of the show as a dance competition is lost when voting is unrelated to their skill. Some of the reality shows now limit the number of votes any one person can make.

Other reality shows also have had winners of dubious talent but the demographic of who watches/votes certainly has an impact on who wins. I don't call that rigging, but if 13 yr old girls mostly watch American Idol, you can imagine how they might sway the voting. AGT has had similar outcomes influenced by the demographics of the viewers when a young girl who played the ukulele or another who was a ventriloquist both ended up being winners.

Having a mix of judges voting along with TV viewers voting would seem to be the better approach. When 100% of the result is based on viewer voting, those advancing or winning may have little talent associated with that program. As someone else mentioned, if it stops being a COMPETITION, then the whole point of the show is lost and people will stop watching.

I miss Tom and Erin, but also like Tyra, and think her kooky outfits fit in with a dance show.

I miss Tom. Erin, not so much. And I like Tyra, just not for this show.

As for her kooky outfits, I don't think she thought they were kooky. :scratchin I thought she thought she was being stylish. But, I don't really know, now that I think of it more. I just felt she wasn't dressing for her body type now, and that it wasn't very flattering for her. What was ironic was that I remember I liked her Halloween costume the best, ans she said it was a costume. I felt that one fit her body.

There is a fiction dance reality show premiering on FOX tonight at 9pm ET. I'm recording it. It's called The Big Leap. It might turn out to be more interesting than this pretend competition.

Maybe her outfits are high fashion :happytv:

Is Gleb finally divorced? There is a lightness about him.

Yay! Grumpy Puss is back! I'm really glad to see him back. :lmao:
