I kind of missed the talk after Mario danced. What is it that he did that was "illegal: on the dance floor? And what exactly are "lifts"? Is that when the "Girl" is lifted into the air?

In the tango you can only 'break hold' in the beginning and at the end. They did it in the middle of the dance.

Joey spun Edita around which is considered a lift. He also lifted her at the beginning. That might have been a problem as well.

The judges were in a punishing mood last night. It isn't fair to break the rules.

OT: Is Willa involved romantically with her partner? What were they talking about in their interview?

That middle judge needs a tranquilizer! He's just a complete grouch.

Last night was the first time I'd watched the show for any length of time and I just have to say WOW, Mario is even cuter than he used to be, those dimples are amazing! :teeth:

I was wondering the same thing.

Last week and again this week Mario and his partner broke the rules regarding what constitutes the particular dance they were doing. LAst week they freestyled most of their quick-step (and I agreed with the judges). This week they broke hold in the middle of their dance. Not-cool for a tango. Joey and Edyta had the same problem but in reverse. NO lifts. They left it out. Oops.

Entertaining as it may be, they must follow the rules. I agreed with Carrie-Ann. It is disrespectful to the judges to not follow the rules. I had the same problem this past weekend at a horse show I attended. Another trainer actually packed up and went home because we wouldn't let her use illegal equipment. She complained that it was "only a fun show" and that we should allow the infraction. Riiiiiight...

I never vote on these things but I felt bad for whoever Mario is and I voted three times for him and twice for Sarah Evans. If there was a way I could subtract votes for Jerry Springer, I would. Its time for him to go.

Don't know about them, but I have heard that Mario and his partner are romantically involved. Anyone else hear that? :lovestruc

Mario denied that rumor. It's important to keep those rumors going, though, it's good publicity.

I find it hard to believe that Max would love anyone but himself..

Dawn proved like with American Idol that when when the judges chastise it puts a fire under the callers to support the victim of the tongue lashing. Since 99% of the viewing audience is watching the dancing for entertainment value and not for the so called RULES they call to give the proverbial finger to the judges. I really works! :thumbsup2

I personally thought Mario and Joey were the best even if they were not "correct". Next was Sarah, who really got BETTER and Monique, who is just adorable. I cracked up when Sarah's partner said he felt weird in the cowboy hat and boots and she felt at home... it would've taken me totally out of my comfort zone, too!! :)

On E!'s news last night they asked him that question and he said no and that she has a boyfriend. I was wondering about Willa and her partner after last nights show.

Mario's performance may have been "illegal", but I think the judges and the back stage interviewer went overboard in being rude! Mario is so hot and, boy, can he dance!!

I missed it last week so I totally didn't get the admonishment from the first judge. I heard " you would have gotton a ten but now you have an 8". I would have HATED them to leave and Jerry Springer to stay. I think it engenders a lot of sympathy when you think someone has done a good job and might get canned.

Well, Willa certainly inferred that during the little narration they do prior to performing their dance. Then, when they were asked the question after their dance, he was completely silent.....and the host (I forget her name), backtracked and quickly changed the subject.

This is such a joke. I think the judges are being like this for pure entertainment value...to stir things up. I mean seriously...they are giving the same scores to Jerry Springer as they are to the good dancers.

I think they are penalizing the good dancers because they know better. Like they told Mario last week he didn't have to do all the extra stuff because he is a good dancer that could easily get 10's if followed the rules. IMO the professional partners are the ones to blame. They know better. They know the rules and what is allowed and what is not.

I believe that she is engaged to Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars.

ETA: Sorry, meant to say soon to be engaged, reports are that he is ready to pop the question......

I agree with this. I also think that next season there will be some kind of automatic deduction taken for rule breaking.

Also, it seems they are trying to play up to the sudience to get the most votes and do not care about the judges votes-hence Marios's "we wanted to be entertaining." They didn't need to break that hold to be entertaining.

At least Jerry Springer seems to be trying, unlike Master P last season....

I don't know much about ballroom, so I am wondering if the music that they use would be against the rules? Most of the songs seem to have nothing to do with the flavor of the dance. If they can't do illegal moves it seems they should also not use incorrect music. I prefer the entertaining dances, and I really don't care if they are doing legal moves.

I agree. Mario's dance would have been entertaining even without the break in the middle.

I thought Emmett Smith's partner did a terrible job choreographing their tango last night. That music was terrible for a tango. :(

OT - do you think there is anything going on with Monique and her partner? I've seen him kiss her and hold her close several times. I know they need chemistry when they dance, but when the dance is over he should back off. :teeth: He seems too old for her. Am I the only one who has noticed this? :confused3
