kimmar, so glad you got some gas! Will you be able to go see your brother??

.

...no - it's too far away, that I may not be able to get more gas - we are now being rationed and it's odd/even days here now....

Watching the news is killing me! All the devastation and all the reports surrounding the marathon. For all those who are in need just seeing all the water and food sitting out and they can't have anything!

They finally decided to cancel it. Just as well, IMHO. Too much devastation right in that immediate area. :sad2:

As much as I like a good race, I think that was for the best. I couldn't imagine running through all of that and taking up hotel rooms that right now could be used for a family that has no roof over their head.

...I don't know how much is being broadcast to the rest of the country, but here, pretty much the consensus of the Tri-State residents as well as the majority of the runners felt that it was not right having the marathon, given the disaster that surrounds the area....one young female runner (about 29 yrs old) was being interviewed shortly after leaving Jacob Javits Center (that's where the runners were supposed to meet for briefings, sign-in, receipt of their running number, etc. and she said, "...bodies are still being pulled from homes, people are walking around in nothing but flip-flops, or no shoes at all, most don't have power, water, food, or heat, yet generators are being set up in tents in Central Park, so that I can enjoy my warm pasta in warmth. It's just not right, so I left the Center without my number....I just couldn't run..."

Good for her.

I could see some events....but one that requires food/ tents/ generators...it seems silly. Those resources could help out.:/

Since its canceled, I wonder if they'll donate the use of tents/ generators etc .

....they should.....I also heard that there are 2 cruise ships docked in NYC and Bayonne and that they are probably gong to let the displaced flood victims stay on board...that would be totally awesome if it's true!

That would!

A friend of mine is in the hospital and very ill. She has a spot of pneumonia on her right lung. It's about 25-30% of her lung. Her blood pressure was quite high and they managed to get it down. Her heart rate is about 100 beats per minute. It should be about 70-80. She's in isolation and on a wide spectrum antibiotic. I talked to her husband this afternoon. She was on oxygen and is now off of it. All she wants to do is sleep. I didn't ask to many details because he's so upset. From what I gathered she fell and hit her head. They did MRI's and CAT scans, nothing wrong with her head. Please, if you think of it, pray for her. This is also the friends who lost 2 alpacas on Thursday/Friday and then had a new one born the same time.

OMG... have I really been gone that long??

Yes. Yes, you have. Welcome back.

Morning nanners!

I'm psyching myself up to get out and go for a run. Only it's COLD out there!! Brr... I know where some of my thermal stuff is but I definitely need to find or get more! With the clock change it'll be getting dark too soon for me to be able to run after work, so I need to start going in the mornings or limit myself to the weekends. Today I need to go early because the out-laws are coming this afternoon to see the new digs.

Hope everyone is doing ok!!:wizard:

.

I thought you'd want to go for a run when the out law's were there. :rolleyes1

Any city event puts a strain on services, but something as huge as the marathon takes an enormous amount of effort to put on. All that effort needs to be put on getting the city and its residents back up and running, not running a marathon. It would be nice if all the stuff already out for the race could be donated to the storm victims.

Hi everyone. I have been MIA due to computer issues again which are still not resolved. I'm lucky to be on here now. The other day I sat at my computer to find only my background picture. My icons are gone and I have no start up menu. I pressed ctrl alt delete to bring up the windows task manager and opened internet explorer that way. That wasn't working yesterday, but thankfully is today. I also ran 2 scans by using task manager. So frustrating.

Oh no. I'm sorry.

It seems November in New England isn't fooling around this year. It has been off and on snow flurries all day. :cold: I came home from work and brewed a nice hot cup of coffee and warmed up a piece of coffee cake that the ILs brought yesterday. Ahhh....that hits the spot!

So I actually started packing last night for FL!! Not major packing, but tossing things into my bag that I want to be sure to remember, like my extra camera strap, my park-touring items (including tix!!!), stuff like that. And I'm keeping a list on my dresser of things that come to mind that I can't pack yet but need to bring. I just think these next two weeks are going to go by fast and I want to get a jump on being ready!

.

We've had flurries today too. Brrrrrrr

Packing!!! :banana::dance3::banana:

Then you are definitely heading for warmer weather soon. We get a cold front this week that brings our high to the mid 60's and low's in 50's.

Mean Queen, I'm not sure if you can answer this (AP holder and all), but if I pay for parking at DHS in the morning and then go to the MK later on, does that parking pass work there, too?...or do I have to pay for parking all over again??
