...I don't know how much is being broadcast to the rest of the country, but here, pretty much the consensus of the Tri-State residents as well as the majority of the runners felt that it was not right having the marathon, given the disaster that surrounds the area....one young female runner (about 29 yrs old) was being interviewed shortly after leaving Jacob Javits Center (that's where the runners were supposed to meet for briefings, sign-in, receipt of their running number, etc. and she said, "...bodies are still being pulled from homes, people are walking around in nothing but flip-flops, or no shoes at all, most don't have power, water, food, or heat, yet generators are being set up in tents in Central Park, so that I can enjoy my warm pasta in warmth. It's just not right, so I left the Center without my number....I just couldn't run..."
