"Dance Moms" on Lifetime

I got sucked into the show yesterday. I watched ALL day long:confused3 Did anyone notice that towards the end of the series, the moms all started to look a bit different? I know that a few went in for Botox injections, but come on. Make up changed, the clothes started looking a bit better.

The jealousy of the one mom against that little Maddie is sickening. I hope she watched the show and was embarrassed by her actions. Unfortunately, I doubt it.

I DO LIKE Dance Moms. It's a good show - look how many of us watch it!

My comment - please do not refer to someone as "fat" with a "poor attitude". Thin people have poor attitudes, as do tall people, short people, curly-haired, straight-haired, etc, etc, etc.

Fat & poor attitude are not synonymous.

Thanks for listening. :goodvibes

[By the way - just for the record - I am of "normal" weight.]

in case you missed it, the poster is relating it to the shows....in the dance mom show the lady is fat and does have a poor attitude.

I know that. As stated previously, I LIKE the show.

I was simply stating that "fat" & "bad attitude" should not be a synonomous description of anyone.

"All skinny people are annoying?"
"All BMIs of 27 are kind"?
"All tall men are not trustworthy"?

It was the generalization that I was speaking of. That's all. :goodvibes

Forgive me, I don't watch the show, but the plus-sized dance techer lady was spotted at my local publix a few weeks ago! I don't know if they live around here, or they were competing at Disney or something, but two girls I work with saw her and they said she was the NICEST lady. They said people were recognizing her all over the store, and she was very sweet and gracious. They said she was even polite to the cashier!

So.. I'm guessing it's an act for TV. She may be hard on the dance girls, but I really think she amps it way up for the cameras for ratings. It's working!!

That show takes place here in Pittsburgh, east of the city in a suburb called PennHills is where the dance studio is.

Nia's mom was interviewed in the local city paper yesterday. She is the director of a hoity toity private school in the city.

Abby and some of the moms were interviewed on the news here too. You're right a trainwreck, but DD (8) and I are hooked too.

I think her mom is in Orlando from what I saw of the show yesterday.

I love the show and can't wait until tonight. That being said, like most reality TV, it is somewhat scripted and very manipulated. In an article, it was noted that she doesn't use the pyramid system in real life, she wouldn't do that. Also noted from someone that was a student of Cathy for a long time and is friends with her now, she and Abbey are very good friends, it was
Abbey's idea to have cathy on to give it even more drama. Just watch it when they fight. Cathy is always smiling at Abbey.

I am in no way defending Abbey, I do believe she is not a nice person, but sometimes to get the bet out of people, you have to push. If she was that horrible, she wouldn't last long.

My girls are dancers and we love to watch this show! Feel sorry for those poor girls.

Love Dance Moms!!! I now follow all of them on Twitter too! :thumbsup2

I think Chloe is just too cute!

I just spotted this thread so I had to post! I danced myself all my life, and did competitions for years when I was younger, and my studio was NEVER this crazy! hahaha I am addicted to watching this nonsense though! I must say the girls have talent, but I really don't understand how they (or their mothers) can put up with the attitude in the studio, that is just uncalled for.

I was a competitive gymnast and a competitive dancer, and there is some truth to the show. Of course it is amped up for tv. But I've witnessed moms backstabbing each other to give their girls a leg up. It can be nasty, but it isn't as out in the open as the drama for the show.

I think the poster didn't know Abbey Lee's name and was just using descriptors. We all knew who she was talking about, so it worked. No one even implied that fat people have bad attitudes. Although Abbey does have a bad attitude on the show, I'm pretty sure it's an act, but I'm not sure the younger kids are mature enough to deal with the "acting," not to mention all the pressure to learn new dances for every competition. In an interview, Abbey said that wasn't at all normal but was done for the show.

I have some thoughts but I will keep them to myself :rotfl:

I was a faithful watcher of a season 1. I watched the season 2 premiere and decided to not DVR this show anymore. It's the same thing every week...Maddie is wonderful, Chloe can't measure up, Nia's mom isn't good enough...blah, blah, blah and then there's Abby yelling at everybody. I was very disgusted (yes I know it's tv) when the girls took first place and Abby yelled at them for doing a terrible job!!! ugh.

We are starting at a new dance studio and the owner has competed against Abby. She said she is a real piece of work.

Love it! I'm guessing it's totally scripted, though. I bet the network is paying for the travel, competitions, and costumes, too. The girls are very talented!

Train wreck is the best description! My DD and I watch this, she more than me. I can't imagine acting the way some of these moms act.

I find it a train wreck. One I can't turn away from LOL! I can't wait to see if the other dance studio lied about the girls ages.

I would never continue to take my kids to that studio..it's a zoo and way too much screaming.

That Maddie is an AMAZING dancer for her age! I love Dance Moms. It's sooo scripted, but so entertaining!
