We really want to see fireworks down on the ocean. Problem is we also have a 1 year old so we can't be down there all day. Any ideas how hard it would be to get to Dana Point in the early evening to see the fireworks? Other suggestions too please.
It really depends where you want to watch from. I would suggest one of the parks overlooking the water/harbor area. Less crowded than beach and easier in and out. I would suggest Heritage Park. Parking will suck, find something along PCH and walk, but easier than the beach.
Thanks. We just want to be somewhere near an ocean for fireworks (1st time in CA for the 4th). Does Heritage offer as good of view as being down near the harbor (which I'm sure is nuts)? Or do you get the best view from the harbor (and if so, any suggestions on where to sit around the harbor)?
Heritage Park has a great view of the harbor and the water. The harbor or Doheny state beach are hard if you don't get there early in the day. Parking is always the biggest problem in that area on the fourth. Alternatively, you could park in one of the residential neighborhoods along Del Obispo St. and walk down to Doheny State Beach along the bike path with a stroller and blanket if you want to sit on the beach. Just my two cents.
