I went to work this morning thinking "those pics will be gone by the time I get home."

They are still there.

I can't even begin to imagine how those people would feel if they saw themselves the butt of this "joke". Especially if they are/were members of this forum.

I think Doris needs to go. Yes this is a privately owned and operated discussion forum.. but it wouldn't exsist at all if it weren't for the people who really make it special.. its members. Taking a chance on insulting the very ones who make this place what it is, in my opinion, is not a very good idea.

I think we all need to laugh a little more, I don't think there's any malicious intent to the fashion reports. I'm taking them tongue in cheek as I think they're meant. Heck, I'd laugh even harder if my picture showed up.

The boards would only be better without them...Those who are so worried about this are the ones most likely who have no clue how ridiculous and foolish they look when they go out--but apparently are worried about being ridiculed and made fools of...seems they are most in need of knowing --those of us who don't worry about such things can laugh at ourselves and welcome the info that others seem reluctant to share with us about our own foibles...

Lighten up, people...the faces are obscured...it is a low risk chance to find out how others view you--dare to find out...

I will also say this, If any of my fellow voters that would like to see Dame Doris fired should disparage your perfectly honest opinion' that there is nothing wrong with Dame Doris, I will be the first person to request that this thread be closed.

We should be here only to state our personal feelings and noone has the right to mock or disparage our position on this matter.

I voted "probably not".

I think it's irrelevant what the intention is - even with the best of intentions it's very anti-DIS material.

I've never been exposed to "Dame Doris" before this thread, and I have to say I'm surprised that DIS would spend a month teasing people about a coming feature for it to be something that is so potentially embarassing to someone - to be singled out on a website like this.

After reading the introduction and seeing the comments, I think this Doris fails to take into account that NOT EVERYONE WHO COMES TO WDW IS GOING TO A FASHION SHOW. I hear people talking once in awhile about picking out clothes to look good in pictures, etc., and I even think that's funny - personally, I just want to be comfortable and somewhat decent looking, with comfort being the most important part. I'm not there to pick up dates or impress an employer, I'm coming to WDW to have a magical experience, not worry about some woman taking my picture and putting it up on a website and trashing it - especially on the DIS.

Although yes, some of the colors were a bit garish on the female attire, I found her calling one guy a "red neck" for wearing what I believe is a pretty typical male outfit - cargo shorts, t-shirt, and outer shirt. Yes, it had a beer logo, which I don't personally find in great taste (I don't generally drink) but that's no reason to insult someone. Not everyone can afford nor does everyone have the desire to dress up like A&F models - especially when on an active, rather athletic style vacation as theme park touring.

I'd like to see some pictures of Doris - perhaps if people could offer their advice on her outfits this would be more equitable.

Finally, to be frank, I think that if someone posted a thread like she did and made such nasty comments that the thread would be closed. Why DIS would give someone a column to do that regularly and sponsored by DIS is beyond me...

If it was just clothing that would be one thing... but one of the comments from the Dame was in regards to a woman who's rolls showed up in her skirt. Not everyone is stick thin, and aside from wearing a garbage bag, you're going to see rolls. Why is okay to make fun of people's weight? If it was some hideous, stain glass window pattern okay, but her weight is another thing altogether.

And yes, I don't want to take the chance of getting made fun of. I don't think I'd show up on the page, as I'm a fairly average dresser in the parks, but I had to go through years of torment for being a chunky kid and no one should have to go through that. I thought I was on a message board that had grown out of the junior high mindset.

That's pretty mean. Couldn't get a rise with your first post so you decided to make it personal? Please take your own advice and lighten up. You might wear something that I think is ridiculous and foolish but others may think is an incredible outlook. To each their own.

I think it's funny so I voted 'yes'. I even subscribed to the mailing list in case there are more in the future! I'm really surprised at how many people are up in arms about something so silly. I'm probably a prime candidate for Dame Doris because I primarily wear black. Yes, even to WDW. If I showed up on DD I'd laugh. You know, because it's funny. Man, I thought I was sensitive! Don't take yourselves so seriously people!

I think we ought to give Dame Doris a chance to change her approach. I'm sure there are wild things worn at WDW every day.

However, don't make fun of anybody's body, please! I bet that a lot of pooh sized folks know that they don't look like a supermodel in shorts...but heck, it's Florida and it's hot...I'M sure not going to tell someone they can't show their legs.

It's funny how things appear in isolation, on a web site. It you took a picture of me today in the clothes I wore to work, I would look great - silk sweater set, gray slacks, stylish open toe heels...but that would be a horribly inappropriate outfit to wear for a day at WDW. Placed side by side with a picture of someone in a t-shirt, baggy shorts, tennis shoes and fanny pack, my picture would look chic, but the other person would be the more appropriately dressed.

I would feel pretty sad if a loved one or myself were to be featured in one of her pieces. That said, I shouldn't cast stones since my wife and I regularly point out horrid outfits - generally they're the chubby teenage girls that think a bare midriff shirt would look cute on them. I just don't understand who is telling them they look good in those! Honorable mention goes to the 'Goth' kids who wear long black pants and/or hoodies in Florida in the summertime.

I think Dame Doris could be a lot of fun. As it is now, I didn't find the writing very witty or the outfits that outlandish. I have seen MANY OUTLANDISH outfits at WDW. Also, I am betting that many of you who are so against the Dame also comment on what others are wearing as you tour the parks. I know I have mentioned to DH at least a few hundred times that our government should provide mirrors for everyone at birth because there are clearly many people who do not have one. And when I say this, it is not based on someone's body type or the like, it is the CLOTHES.

I say Monkeyboy should write the Dame's column.

It's great to have this opinion when it's not you or someone you love or whatever. Was the Miller shirt so bad? I liked that roll-out-the-barrel woman's caboose. To see them ridiculed on the internet is in poor taste and should be stopped. And you know what? I don't consider myself a thin-skinned loser.

I have to agree with a previous poster that I think it's all for fun as long as the clothes chosen are really outrageous and the faces are blurred. The ones in the article really aren't outrageous and just seem commentary for the sake of speaking. If the fashion police are going to cite people... it needs to be the ones that really make me drop my jaw!

On a more serious note, I agree that people need to set a good example for their chilren, but I also think that people can't teach their children to be so thin-skinned and politically correct that they're offended by every little thing.

Well I voted.....for her to go. While I understand the views of some who say it is all in fun and lighten up I find it inappropriate and mean spirited. Who cares that the faces are blotted out...the fact is they are going around taking unauthorized pictures of people for the SOLE purpose of posting it on here the internet to laugh at and ridicule. I find it truly childish at BEST. I thought as parents we teach our kids NOT to make fun of other peoples differences be it ethnicity, deformities, disabilities, differences and here we are the so called GROWN UPS doing exactly what we tell our kids not to. I understand nobody has to look at it if they dont want to but what kind of person would really want to. Is anybody that desperate for a laugh that they need to post pics of peoples too tight clothing and label it ROLL OUT THE BARREL or a guy with a beer pic and Call him a redneck and that the show cops must be always filming in his neighborhood. To me there is no way anyone can explain that away as not being mean. Last time I checked this was a Disney board. WHAT does this have to do with Disney? I wonder how many on this board who thinks there is nothing wrong with it and its just for laughs would mind posing for a DAME picture and show us your redneck rolls and let us poke fun and would still think its just a little good humor . No one is making fun of people for ethnicity, deformity, disability, or any other aspect they can't control. Fashion is a choice... and many people are making poor choices.

I realize that this probably won't last, but I have to say... I don't know a single person who hasn't muttered to a companion "OMG... did you SEE that?!?!" If people are so worried about how people treat each other then perhaps they should remember, "Let he who is without sin..." The same people who are up in arms about how no one appointed Dame Doris to be the judge of WDW fashion are judging her in just the same way.

As long as the identities are not revealed, why in the WORLD is this offensive?

My only complaint might be that some of the outfits being critiqued just didn't seem that bad to me personally and that it seemed like kind of a rip-off of badshoe.com.

Curious. There are 4 votes for it's just for fun but those voters have chosen not to identify themselves by actually posting on this thread. I do not deny that there are people who honestly do not see anything wrong with Dame Doris but you should be willing to stand up for your beliefs and post, not just vote.

I have a few things to say about this and I hope I get my point across. First of all my kids don't read the Dis so I'm not worried about the bad example I'm setting. Second, I have seen people bash each other and name call on this board that is so much worse than what Dame Doris is doing. Third, I don't think that what she said was that bad. Honestly! Fourth, comedians are always bashing people. You can't tell me that none of you watch Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan, or Saturday Night Live. Every night peoples feelings are probably hurt by one of these people. Do you really think that this Dame Doris is being serious? I look at it as a spoof or a parody and sure some feelings may be hurt but maybe we all need to learn to laugh at ourselves once in a while. There are so many other horrible things going on in this world save your breath for those!
