Dallas/Fort Worth is a new site for Disney Theme Park?

Every year I hear that Disney has taken over the Rennaissance Festival site and will build a park there. Every year is supposedly the last for the festival but every year it comes back. I personally hope that Disney goes elsewhere if they ever build because I like the festival right where it is.

Are you sure fklhou, that Liberty is a good location? Doesn't it tend to flood there like almost nowhere else?

LOL! I worked there for 3 years when I was in college. Every year was going to be the last year because Disney bought the site!
I've heard about the New Braunfels site, the Padre Island site, the Liberty site and now D/FW and McKinney.
This rumor is so old it's got long, gray chin whiskers.

Don't forget about the Conroe site rumor. There was even an Austin rumor going around. (Actually, the weather in Austin is just about perfect for a park).

With all these rumors, I'm beginning to think Disney bought the whole state and has just hasn't announced it yet. I'd better run home to see if there is a guy from Disney waiting there to make me an offer on my house.

Don't forget that Texas is the only state that can legally secede from the the union. Maybe we'll just take our Disney-owned property and leave! ;)

I've also heard about various places in East Texas besides the Rennaissance land that is.

"Should we start a thread on the DB as to which city (Houston vs. Dallas) would be better for a new Disney park? It may be at least as interesting as the conservative vs. liberal threads on the DB."

Could the moderates vote to put it half-way between the two?

Personally, I think closer to Houston would be better - since then they could have a cruise port nearby.

LOL... TEXAS THE GREAT NATION OF DISNEY!!!!

We could have the Texas flag with a Micky Head in the area where the star is with the star superimposed on it. Get Elton John and Randy Newman to co-write the national anthem.

LOL Lainy. ;)

Actually, I've always believed that Disney considered building a park in Texas and actually went so far as to make inquiries. And that's probably what started the rumors. I doubt that they have any plans now though. :(

Hmm...interesting.I'd like to see SOMEBODY,ANYBODY give SFOT a little competition. We recently visted there and it's AWFUL!They are having their summer long 'best of Texas festival'(which,if I 'member correctly..used to be in Sept for three weeks)with so many concession booths you can barely walk! And the prices they charge just for parking floored me..12 bucks for 'preferred' parking.Gimme a break! And unlike WDW,they charge you directly for their 'fastpass" which is called q-Bot.You have to wear a thing like a beeper around your neck and you can't get it wet..what a pain in the ****!I used to love going to SFOT but now i avoid it like the plague.
I'd love to see Disney build a park in Texas..perhaps near Frisco??

I do not think it is a good idea right now to build any park, whether is be in Texas, Florida, or California. Disney right now needs to spend their money wisely on the parks they already have. I mean Epcot needs lots of work done to it, and California Adventure needs more rides. Lets just hope Disney concentrates on what they have before they go building another park.

Ok....I live in the DFW area in Mansfield. Coming from a bias point of view - I would love a Disney Park here!! Mansfield is south of Arlington and has lots and lots of land. This would be the most logical place to build a theme park because it is less crowded than north of DFW and yet only 30 minutes away from DFW airport. DFW is located right smack in the middle between Disneyland and Disneyworld. It makes sense. It is hot here in the summer, but it's also hot in Florida too. Each place has it's pros and cons. Remember, the largest stock holder in Disney is the famous Bass family and they live in Fort Worth. This area is a great place to live. Easy to get to from all parts of the country.

"If you build it, they will come."

We have a park on the East cost and the West coast - the only logical place is somewhere in the middle. Anything north of Texas would be too cold in the winter.

If I had a Disney Park nearby - I would go nuts! Yippeee!:p

Let's keep that Texas theme park rumor alive!!!!:bounce:

Is this still the case? I seem to remember both Warren Buffet and the Bass family selling a significant portion of their DIS stock not too long ago...

Hi Dave. You could be right about the Bass family. I remember that sell off. They still own a good size chunk of Disney, but not like before.

Hey, wouldn't it be great to have a Disney park here and maybe Disney could build a Horizons II ride!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I can dream can't I? :p

This rumor has been going on for years!! I really don't see it happening! When the annual stockholders meeting was held in Ft. Worth Eisner was asked if there was any validity to this rumor. He said far too many Texans go to WDW. It would hurt that resort too much. Not that Eisner is always the most honest of people, but still I believe his answer. This rumor needs to just die!!!

Triton---I didn't know the Bass family had such a large portion of Disney stock sitting around.MAYBE they'd put all their family money to good use and help Disney build a theme park in Texas?:)That would be killah.

Warren Buffet hasn't been a Disney stockholder for at least two years now, so I have read. It's not like I KNOW the guy! ;)
Although I did stand next to him at the popcorn counter at the theatre. Does that count? :jester: :jester:

I have represented a client who sold a company to Mr. Buffett. It was a comparatively small deal (less than $100 million) but Mr. Buffett came to the closing and the closing dinner. He is a very nice man. According to thes SEC reports that I seen, Bershire got rid of their Disney stock several years ago after the ABC merger.

I too have ahard time believing that Disney would locate in Texas. It would hurt WDW and why would they want to be in the home of Bush and Enron?

The name of the new Disney Theme Park is Disney Frontier Dallas and located north of Frisco, near Celina :thumbsup2

Me neither. In fact, I didn't see any Disney commercials but then I fell asleep towards the end of the 3rd quarter.
