Dairy Free Shakes

Can you just pop in and order one at the counter??? That would be amazing, my son has dairy/egg allergies and this would be a great surprise for him!

you can totally do that! just try to go mid afternoon or a time when they are not crazy busy. this is not because they will not serve you, they will, it can just be hard to move around with all of those ppl in the lounge waiting for their table.

Even if you have to wait though, totally worth it! its so nice to be able to go out and have a fun treat :goodvibes

There is a list they can send you with CS snacks and food. They sent me one for my son with 20+ allergies. We were offered Rice dream frozen treat instead of ice cream.

I would check, i had heard that they are not doing this write now because they are in the middle of changing vendors (unfortunately they are changing most of their allergy items to be GF, but not all are now dairy free). thought because of the change i would recommend ppl with allergies always consult the books because things that were safe before may not be now. there is a huge thread on the disabilities section that is talking about all of this right now.

Prior to the new vendor changes in Nov. 2011, I was able to get a gluten free/dairy free milkshake at Sci-Fi Drive-In without any notice ahead of time. It was chocolate and soooo good. Hopefully, they are still doing these. I've been able to get rice dream and tofutti since the vendor change (and they used that in the shakes).

mmm, now I'm craving a dairy free milkshakes! :thumbsup2:banana:

I got a burger at Electric Umbrella. The ingredients for the regular bun list lactic acid but dairy is not one of the allergens listed. I didn't see any other hidden dairy nor am I experiencing any allergy symptoms. So far, so good.

That is good news! Thanks! Our first trip DS ate the GF buns since the regular ones contained dairy. Now the new GF buns contain egg so in January those were out too. He ate a lot of bunless hotdogs. The old reference list definitely listed the regular buns as containing whey so they must have changed them. My DS actually passed a baked milk challenge a week before our last trip, but I wasn't yet ready to experiment with new foods while on vacation.

Interesting about the buns. My DD11 can eat gluten but not milk and I was under the impression from past info from Special Diets and chefs that the majority of the regular bread products contain milk. There was a gourmet hot dog bun that didn't (the chef at the Plaza would send his manager across the street to Caseys to get it for her; gotta love Cousin Ken) but the rest of the breads used to have milk. It really stunk for her because she's allergic to an ingredient in the Ener-G breads but at least she can now have the Udi's buns. It sure would be even better if she could eat the regular ones. I'll have to discuss the breads with some chefs to see if they're safe for her laundry list of allergies. It's good to know that they may have changed the regular buns again.

Thank you! I am going to surprise him with that, we'll just be walking by and I'll tell him to wait for me that I have to run in to the restroom, I'll let my daughter in on the secret, then I'll pop out and surprise him with a shake, I make them at home for him but this will be special, I can't wait! Disney is the only place I can take him to eat without getting anxiety and then not being able to relax over a meal! thank you.........http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/yay.gif
