Does anyone know if the restaurants or food courts can prepare anything dairy free? Any suggestions for tips on avoiding dairy at Disney? My son, age 4, cannot have it and we are leaving in a few days.

I'm lactose intollerant and I've always found things to eat at Disney. If you are at a sit down restaurant within Disney World just ask to speak to the chef regarding your son's allergy. They will let you know the options that your son can have and usually will offer to make something entirely off the menu if necessary. The chefs are all very nice and most willing to accommodate dietary restrictions.

For counter service I just usually eat things that I am 99.9% sure are dairy free. I stay away from anything batter dipped, breads, dressings, desserts, etc.

On the snack carts they serve fruit bars which are dairy free - those are always a nice treat!

I know that your son will have plenty to eat. I always do!! Have Fun!!

My DD has a Dairy allergy and i have to say that everyone in WDW was wonderful and SO helpful.
If you are doing CS i would just ask to speak to a manager..at the table service or buffets let them know before you sit and they will have the chef come to your table and he/she will let you know exactly what your son can have. They do have Toffuti instead of ice cream in most places, and in Hollywood studios(the ice cream place down by TOT..sorry i can't remeber the name right now..Hollywood scoops maybe???)..Kayleigh was so happy that she could get a "milk shake" in Whispering Canyon Cafe..lol
Main street bakery sells Divvis brand snacks..brownies, caramel popcorn, chocolate chip cookies etc...
You wil have no problems finding food...have a great time and don't worry!!!
We actually couldn't believe how great everyone was..Kayleigh said she felt like a Princess..lol

Have you made any ADR's for your trip? If so, you should call back and let them know so they can add it to your reservations. If you haven't made ADR's, you really should call and make some before you go.

When you check in for a meal, mention it and when your server comes to the table, mention it again. Disney is well known for being fantastic about dealing with food allergies.

Same thing at the CS, let them know that there is a food allergy and a manager will come out to talk to you.

this link should help:

My son, age 11, has a dairy/egg allergy and I was very worried at avoiding these at disney, next month will be his 9th trip and so far every trip has been wonderful, I can't express enough how great disney is with food allergies, one of our fav restaurants is crystal palace, he feels like a king there, the chef walks us around the buffet telling us what he can have , they even made him a huge chocolate brownie for dessert, which he was nice enough to give me a bite and it was delicious. At the fast food courts ask for the ener-g buns (tapioca) if he wants a hamburger, he can have the chicken nuggets at the food courts at the resorts, they serve rice dream and tofutti at the bakery and at AK, the turkey legs served around the different parks are ok too, just ask the chefs and counter service and they will guide you through, they have lists of ingredients for everything. Have a great trip and don't worry, I feel safer there then at some of our at home restaurants! :goodvibes :goodvibes
