Dairy allergy but tolerates baked dairy. Any help welcomed!

My 8 year old just passed a baked dairy challenge and can now have things like cupcakes and muffins with dairy in them. Of course, one of my first thoughts was our summer Disney trip and whether this allows him more options. :-)

Wondering if anyone has any tips about safe treats. How about, for example, cupcake toppings and frosting. Does that typically have dairy?

Thanks in advance for advice.

Because of the specifics that go with baked milk, I wouldn't be comfortable experimenting while out and about on vacation. Did you Dr. give you instructions on what's safe? We were told how much per recipe and what time and temperature were needed to be considered "baked". Also, I think the chefs would error on the side of caution and recommend not eating anything with dairy. It could be tricky for them.

Any cupcake frosting I have experienced always had butter or cream cheese in it.

Thanks for the replies! We had planned to keep the allergy noted on all reservations as they were. I hate to take up chef's time!! Was just hoping someone had been in the same position and had a tip. Glad Babycakes is back at Downtown Disney. Thanks again!

We were in the same position (DS passed his baked milk last summer). Like I said, with the specifics of doing baked milk, it's a lot to ask them to break it down like that.

I don't know of any frosting options aside from going with an allergy free cake like from Babycakes. I have twins who can tolerate some forms of dairy and not others but I find it safest when we go to Disney to just avoid dairy across the board. I think it just makes it too much for the chefs to manage and makes more risk of a mistake with using something they can't have.

I am much the same as I can tolerate dairy and eggs in a baked item much easier than in raw form. However I will tell you that I went over to Beach Club and bought some of the Erin McKenna mini brownies and the baked donuts (GF and Vegan including the frosting) and they were good, pricey but good. Other than that I would assume any frosting has raw butter or cream cheese, but muffins without glaze should be fine or unfrosted cookies.

I have pictures of them in a post on this thread.
