Hi All,

What do you think two Newlyweds should expect to spend per-day on food at Disney World? We like to eat well, aren't big drinkers but enjoy a glass now and then, and aren't big junk food fans.

Thanks!

That can vary so much from one person to the next, but it's easy to figure out for yourself by checking out the menus (which have prices) over on allears.net.

If you think you'll spend over 38.00 a day(Not including tip and drinks) then it's worth it to get the Dining plan, IMO. YMMV.

Yes ... it can be a bit pricey but check the menus as suggested. We did not opt for the dining plan in 2008 because it is just too much food. We certainly DID eat appies and desserts ... and I came back with the extra pounds to prove it!

Anyway, figure that counter service EACH is going to be $10. Snacks are about $2 to $3. Dinner can vary widely depending on what you eat. Entrees (especially steaks) can run $26 or more and that is without any drinks -- even coffee. Though counter service might be enough to share if you get something extra like fruit, I did not find Table Service entrees very sharable - they are not large at all. Buffets are available in several restaurants but you would need to check the prices on those. I avoid buffets like the plague -- I am not good with self control! Have fun!

Planning what you will eat is really half the fun of going to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

You might want to look at the Dining Plan if you are staying in a WDW Resort. The price is pretty much fixed then and you eat very well. There are several posts on the Dining Boards.

Sounds like the dining plan is made for you. but you will need to book a package including your tickets or at least 1 day base ticket pp.That way you know what your food costs are right from the get go.

I'm a little worried that if we do the dining plan we may overeat because "we already paid for this."

DF and I will be newelyweds as well - getting married 1/5 and doing disney 1/6-1/13. We are doing the deluxe dining plan which will allow us to eat at signature restaurants every night. We plan on eating a full breakfast, snack for lunch, and a full dinner. It's our honeymoon, so we are going to live it up and not care about how much we eat!!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon! We honeymooned at Disney...17 years ago!

Before the dining plan we did a lot of counterservice and did an envelope of cash for each day's spending. I based budgets on what I read in disney books. You could use allears to help you with planning.

It is your honeymoon, and you don't want to worry about pinching pennies. The basic dining plan isn't as much of a gorge-fest. It is great to sit down each day and order without any consideration of cost and food bill. For us, the dining plan is absolutely worth it!

Good luck in your decision and enjoy the planning!

Gee, whatever happened to living on love? Way back in the olden days, when I was married we went to White Castle after we got married and had to share 6 burgers cause that is all the money we had. You youngsters are so spoiled and

I am so glad!!!!

I think you should splurge a little, if it will not put you deep in debt, and just have a wonderful time.

We were in WDW for our honeymoon last month.

We were on the dining plan, but you still see how much your meals would have been.

For counter service it usually rang up to be about $26 (we only ate counter service for lunch).

For table service it was near $80 each time (this was for dinner)

We did get the apps., entree and desert each time for table service, which is why it was so expensive. We didn't overeat, but usually had some dessert left over.
