Is it possible to spend 2-3 hours just napping or hanging by the pool everyday? We are in our twenties and will be on our honeymoon. We were planning on getting up early and staying in the park until 2ish and going back around 5ish. Do you think this will work? We will be there for 5 1/2 days. Will we have time for this downtime?

Normally I think it would work very well. But since you'll be on your honeymoon, I don't know. ;) :goodvibes

For us old married folks, a nap or time at the pool (or both) are fine. We leave around 11:30 and go back around 4:30. :) Staying until 2:00 is hard...you are there at the busiest (and hottest) time of day. You might want to leave earlier...but you might not!

Hey there!
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

When my DH and went on our Disneymoon two years ago, we did spend an hour or two each day lounging...and I mean lounging around our resort. It was awesome. It was totally unplanned and when we got tired, we just went back, slept, watched TV, and went back to the parks that were waiting for us. :)

Have a great time!

We always take a break between lunch and dinner. We swim and nap and "recharge" our batteries. We did that even before we brought our daughter with us to WDW. I highly recommend a break -- even so, there will be plenty of running around during the mornings and the evenings.

Not only do I think it is possible.... I think it is MANDATORY!!

We tend to have better days when we give ourselves 2 hours back at the resort in the afternoons - reading, swimming, napping, shopping.

We arrive at opening, and stay till closing - but the afternoons are just as important to us!
Enjoy!

This is exactly what we do almost every day we're there. It's the best schedule for our family, and that recharge really makes for a relaxing trip (for us...everyone is different, of course). Now, when we were on our honeymoon, we did go back to the room in the afternoon, but, hmmm...we didn't make it to the pool that often!

A lot depends on when you are going. If the weather is hot or bad, you might want to go back for a break. If it's nice, you might not need a mid-day break. If you are staying on-site it will much easier to hop on a bus, but if not, I wouldn't bother. We are a family that does not take a mid-day break, we just let little ones nap in the stroller back when they were babies.

I agree, the afternoon break is a must! If you go to the parks for opening and use fastpasses, you will get to do a lot of attractions in a short amount of time. Then you can have the afternoon down time, miss the heat of the day, and go back to the parks for the evenings. And if you get up to be at the parks by opening, you may be ready for the nap. (Now that I am used to the afternoon nap, I have to convince my boss that it's necessary.....

:goodvibes )

If budget allows, I recommend a massage at the GF. VERY relaxing.......

Hi

Two adults, no kids here, and we always take a mid-afternoon nap, or we take a break at Downtown Disney (which isn't much of a break but it is alot of fun!). We go 45 minutes before the park officially opens, get all of the rides done, and we are usually heading for a nap around 11:30. Do lunch somewhere, hit the pillow, and up and going around 4 or 5.

We have tried it without the breaks when we went with another couple, but by the end of the week we were all exhausted!

Congratulations and have a great trip!

Inga

I definitely think everyone should take the midday break. You avoid the parks at the busiest and hottest part of the day and it gives you a chance to enjoy the resorts amenities. I am not much older than you guys (35) and really liked having some downtime to get reenergized.

i'm gonna be the crazy one of the thread. we don't take breaks. we go all out and go straight through the day. morning to night like disney animals! after the parks close we head back to our resort, fill up our refillable mugs, play cards and then go to bed early, to wake up early the next morning to do it all again!!!!!
