My little gardening helper, DS3, took a pair of clippers and cut off most of the leaves from my daffodils. I know they should have been left to give nurishment to the bulbs, but it's way to late for that. I sprinkled some bone meal around them and worked it into the ground. Is there anything else I should try to help save them? Will they come back next year? TIA for any help. I have learned to keep my clippers up and out of his reach from now on. At least I caught him before he snipped the blooms off the iris which are almost ready to open.

I've cut everything off my daffs before when I was impatient and wanted to clean things up. They came back fine. I live in a pretty mild winter area though which probably makes a big difference.

oops! Those little helpers... gotta love them.

I don't know what else you can do other than making a sacrifice to the garden gods and I don't think you are ready to do that yet with your DS! (But you are sure to have second thoughts about that when he is a teenager)

- (Sorry, just venting...teenson here aggravating parents...still love him, not ready to sacrifice him to the garden gods either...yet).

Maybe I'm better off offering him up now -- I can't imagine what he's going to be like as a teenager. He's always been a handful and if he can get into it, he will and usually succeeeds. He's had 4 trips to the ER in 3 years. It's scary to think of the days to come.

Today we saw some daffodil leaves at a school and DS told me that he needs to cut them down for him. Now if I could only get him to trim the bushes the way I'd like them done, I might be in business.;):D
