Last March my family and I set out on our very first Disney Cruise. Lets just say it didn't go as planed. The weather was horrible! We didn't dock in alot of ports and our route got out of order. I think we were sopuosed to do something like Key West then Cozumel, then the Caymens then the Disney Island. We did something like Cozumel, Beleze, then Key West then the Disney island. The weather was horrible. The boat was rocking so hard you couldn't walk to dinner with out falling over! My dad gets sea sick so easily. You can only emagine his trip.;) Other than the weather I loved it and really, really want to try this again. However my dad siaid he would kill himself before getting back on a boat. Can some of you give me arguing points I can use som we can get back on the boat thanks a million!

Welcome!!:wave2:

The first time we cruised, I got terribly seasick. It took a couple years, but I decided to try it again. This time I came prepared with dramamine and didn't get sick at all (except the last day, but that was Norwalk).

We have only cruised twice, first time October, and the weather wasn't too bad. It was alittle choppy the first day, but a hurricane had just passed two days before. When we went this past June the weather was beautiful. I'm not sure the best times to go are (hopefully someone else can advise you one this). I think hurricane season is June through November, but that is just hit or miss.

Why not try a 3 or 4 day cruise to get him to try it again. If he has a better experience on the ship the second time he may be more likely to do it again.

Good luck!!

we cruised on july 4th and the water was smooth as glass....
my daughter and i suffer from very severe motion sickness and both of us were fine the entire time (the only time i felt any motion at all was at the beginning and end when the ship crosses the gulf stream or whatever it's called, that causes a bit of movement...

in any case, july 4th the water was calm as can be....

Kate, were you on the March 29 Magic? We were on that one, it was our fourth Disney Cruise, and the roughest. Half the passengers were sick on that one night. The dining rooms were half empty. Tell your dad that was unusual. I understand how he feels, while I was sick, I was thinking that this is the last cruise I am ever going to take. When I felt better the next day, we booked our next cruise.
I use Less-Drowsy Dramamine and ginger. I take two ginger capsules with each meal and at bedtime.
Maybe you should try your next cruise in the summertime. Seems like the seas are very calm in the warmer months.

plutojudy, yes we were on the March 29 magic. Wasn't it horrible! I was the only one in my family to make it through dinner that night. My sister was even thrown from her bunk bed! I will be sure to tell my dad that even an experenced cruiser thought that that was very unusual. Thank you so much!
