I joined on launch day and had my renewal pack for this year through a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping I get to go to an event at some point as well. :thumbsup2

We're not members (yet!!), but I'd love to know a bit more about it, if you have time?

We joined few months after launch, we decided seeing as we got married in WDW last year it would be great 2 be a charter year member commemorating 2009:thumbsup2

we ve got all the magazines, last edition arrived last week. They re truely amazing. We want to get the magazine holder case that was advertised in the last edition, we re hoping that ll still be available next yr when we re out there.

Getting anything shipped over proves so pricey due to custom fees:mad:

can't wait to wear my " are you 23" top in the world next year:thumbsup2

I hope this helps explain what d23 is all about :thumbsup2

D23 (Disney)

D23 is a Disney program to build a fan community of Disney enthusiasts, the first sponsored by The Walt Disney Company.

Hide History

D23 was introduced on March 10, 2009 by Robert Iger during the company's annual meeting in Oakland, California. The name D23 refers to Disney and 1923, the year the company was founded . The goal of D23 is to communuicate with Disney fans by "placing them in the middle of the magic."[1]

The major components of D23 include a Web site, Disney twenty-three (a quarterly publication), yearly member gifts, member events, member exclusive merchandise, and the D23 Expo, a Disney fan convention dubbed "The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience".[2]

At launch, D23 featured one level of charter membership for $74.99. For 2010, D23 introduced two levels of membership featuring different prices.

The D23 Web site features comic strips, breaking Disney news stories, event information, "This Day in Disney", and a "Walt Disney Archives" section, where visitors can view some rare pieces of Disneyana.

DW joined last year but didn't renew for this year.
It ended up costing a small fortune trying to collect the D23 pins. The shipping costs to the UK alone are verging on extortion, then when C+E want their pound of flesh it gets a bit too much.
I was hoping that the World of Disney store would have a section just for D23 members, but no luck there.
All in all I thought that it was great if you live in the US - but no so great for us over here.

Ihave seen this online, but wasn't really sure what you got?

Is it just mags and info, seems quite alot!!

How do you find out more?:confused3

Another who thought that Disney scored an own goal with D23.

The cost of the international shipping since this is run by the shopping division is nothing short of scandalous :headache:

Despite mine and others emails Disney failed to answer this concern.

The Silver membership offers little to nothing so why would fans purchase this :confused3

This has always been the reason why I have a rant about D23.

Disney will have to do better if they are to convince me that they care about their fans :)

Listen to an old DISuplugged podcast to hear the team rant better than I can about the failings of D23 :thumbsup2

The D64 facebook group is a great hangout for those who wanted better :goodvibes

I'm a D23 charter member, but I totally agree about the international shipping! It's honestly outrageous! I sent them an email about it basically saying that I would buy so much more from them if they reduced the prices and I got a generic "we review the prices regularly" reply.

I'm a vinylmation collector so am very lucky to have a few contacts in the US. So I have resorted to asking one friend to buy the pins etc for me and then he sends them over. He sends them as a gift so I don't have to pay C+E on them but I would really rather not have to go through someone else to get them!

We're going over to WDW in Nov so I'm hoping there will be some kind of D23 event whilst I'm there so I can really feel the benefits. At the moment it's just a very expensive magazine!

I am a d23 member as well. I was wondering if someone could help me. I can not remember my user name and password. I go through the motions on the disneystore.com to retrieve it and am given my user name and changed my password. then when I go to purchase exclusive d23 merchandise through disneystore.com at checkout it tells me to log in my d23 info. which i already did. what am I doing wrong.

I appreciate anyones help. For the $ I paid to join this I would say right now its quite frustrating I have been trying to find my correct user name and password for months now.
