hi there i was looing in to joinging the D23 membership
i would like to know if there are any canadians that have joined D23
and if they have to pay an extra shippin for the quartly magazine
and if they like havng the membership
thank you

Hi! I am a member, and have been since it first came out. They have a Canadian shipping rate. I think the first year it was more expensive than the second year. I like the magazines, but to be honest, I have not read much out of them. I skim them quickly and then set them aside. They are really beautiful, almost like a soft covered book moreso than a magazine. I like the "gift" you get. Thanks for reminding me that I have not renewed yet. I can't not, I just want to have all the magazines. The total price this time around is $99.94 USD, (shipping is $24) but I think our dollar is doing really well, so it should not be much different. I believe the shipping is the same for the first time order. The gift this year is a watch.

Hope that helps a little bit!

I've been a member since year one as well and just an FYI the watch is only for renewals. There is another gift that will come with the first magazine. Last year they sent the Calender to all members and also sent a Pin out to everyone who was an inaugural member.

Found one more D23 member. I ship mine to the US so I can't help with the shipping cost info. The cost this year was 74.99 and I get a watch as you know. I think is not bad for the magazines and a gift or two. I must think it's Ok because I renewed again.

Has anyone received the first issue yet? I got a large package that had a letter welcoming me back, my new membership card and the watch but nothing else.

Sorry to hijack a bit, but does anyone know if D23 has benefits at the parks? Or is it basically just for the magazine and special events?

To my knowledge there are no perks inside the parks, just what you listed.

Well there is no discounts in the parks, at Downtown Disney in Disneyland you can get a discount at Ralph Brenuns Jazz kitchen, you can also get the same discount at there other locations in the US. The other stores in there also give discounts from time to time for D23 members.

The watch is for any new/renewed memberships - I just joined for the first time and got the watch/magazine/certificate/card/luggage tag/bumper sticker in one box.

I think I paid $99.34 for it, and with the exchange rate it worked out to being par. The magazine is beautiful and worth it for me since I can't go to any of the events.

If you go to the website for D23, they list places that give perks for memberships (abc.com online store is one of them). Just being a member of an official fan club is enough for this Disney nerd.

I'm not a member but I'm a huge Disney fan. D23 doesn't attract me at all; I'm not sure what it is but I just don't have the urge to pay to be part of a fan club. Just my $0.02.

I sent them an e-mail last night and got one back from someone in guest realtiuons at the Disney Store telling me how sorry they were that I did not recive the magazine and put another one in the mail for me. :cool1: I then sent a email back to them thanking them and got a response back from the same person about an hour later saying they were glad they were able to help.

Bought it the first year, and thought it was a total waste of money. While the magazine was nice, most important information can be found here or elsewhere on the internet. Plus the "special events" that sell out in milliseconds are all in CA, not in WDW.

Seems like a group that is trying to make themselves feel elitist, which is why I didn't renew.
