Ok that makes more sense. Still at least 2 more sections that won't be available for those over nighting.
Yep. Just talked to one of those individuals who was able to chose a wristband. She got the Parks one and feels that 60% took Live Action, 40% Parks. Total amount of people she estimated to be 1000 people.

I was reading updates on Facebook. Makes me worried because I definitely want to get into parks tomorrow after power of the princess. We'll see I guess.

Hey guys, first time D23 attendee (Saturday Single Day) along with first post, have a couple of questions...

What time should I be arriving/lining up to attend the 10:30 a.m. Live Action Hall D23 panel? From what I gather - around 5 a.m.? Is this correct?

Is there any way at all to both line up for the Live Action panel, AND get a ticket for the Avengers: Infinity War Talent Signing? (Tickets are distributed between 9 to 9:30 a.m.) I'm guessing not since this ticket has to be picked up at the Show Hall, which to get into I'd need to be in the Show Hall line and not the Hall D23 line? Note that there are 3 in our group, if that changes things at all.

Is it frowned upon to save a spot for a friend?

Could someone please tell a complete newbie how these lines work?

Thank you very much for your time!

Wow, I feel so bad for those people that didn't get in to Animation, because it was amazing. At 1:55 (when we finally started to move to the escalators) I was thinking "All I've done today is stand/sit in lines. This stinks." By 4:45 as we were leaving the panel I was thinking "if that's literally all I get to do this weekend, this trip was worth it."

That said, I REALLY hope that's not all I get to do.

I already know I'm punting on Live Action tomorrow morning, because I really want to see Power of the Princess, but fingers crossed I can get into Parks in the afternoon. Hopefully by tomorrow they'll have things better figured out, because line management was a disaster both inside and outside today.

What time are people thinking the live action may close off tomorrow, especially with all the wristbands given out (about 1000)? How many have slept over (eg before 4:00am) in the past, roughly?

That's horrible! I feel so bad for the people who didn't get into Animation! I'm sure some of them only purchased one day tickets too so those wristbands would be worthless . -_-

Wow. Hearing the line up mess today, I am just going to get in line for parks tomorrow and give up on power of princess. Parks and resorts is the main reason I flew in from Georgia.

Thanks for the heads up. Really appreciate it.

I'm right there with you. That's basically all I'm planning for tomorrow.

First D23 and I must say the store lines took my breath away. Amazing how quickly those things stretched to beyond stupid waits. I'm not big on the shopping, but sheesh.

Ugh, can't believe Disney messed up so badly today and it's effectively going to bleed over to tomorrow to both the Movies & Parks panels. Still planning to get there around 3a so hopefully we still make it.

Got the few things I wanted from Mickeys of Glendale and the Dream Store today so I don't have to worry about shopping/lines for stores for the rest of the weekend now.

Today was both amazing and aggravating. I personally had a great day, but hearing the stories about animation panel snafu (the video is scary) and the accident in the store...yikes!

I heard about an accident but no details at all. Do you know what happened?

Well I know for sure the Dream Store was shut down for a while, overheard from other people in line that a glass display was knocked over and broken so they cleared everyone out. There was another mention on Reddit where a curtain for one of the stores fell down which resulted in people rushing in, but I have no other accounts for that so not sure if it's true or not.

Couldn't sleep so I've been keeping an eye on twitter, apparently there's already four lines to get into the Hall E waiting area?! With some people saying they're being told there's no guarantee they'll make it in. And it's barely 11p! I might just throw in the towel for Live Action this year and show up for the Parks panel instead. At least I'll get a few extra hours of sleep.

I got into the Animation panel under the Gold Priority seating so I didn't hear about the mess up until afterwards. We met some folks with wristbands for Live Action in our hotel elevator, actually. They said they weren't monitoring the doors upstairs properly and people got in to Hall D who hadn't been queuing below in Hall E, contributing to the number of folks who missed out :(

And I was actually outside the Dream Store when the crash happened. I was waiting for my husband who was in the line to checkout. We split up our Storepasses with him going to the Dream Store and myself going to Disney, so we knocked out all our shopping today. Surprisingly, the Disney Store still had some limited edition items even towards the end of the day. The Stormtrooper Tsum Tsums, Red She Hulk Rock Candy, and Star Wars Cantina 3-Pack Dorbz were all still in stock at 5pm.

My husband also got into the Incredibles 2 signing with Brad Bird at the Animation booth whilst I was shopping at the Disney Store. He said they distributed numbered cards (1 to 100) about 30 mins prior to the signing start, but there was little to no crowd control in the area so people were waiting all over the place. And they started shouting at the amassed crowd not to push or rush at the staff handing out cards or they would cancel the signing. So it was pretty chaotic until they ran out of cards and properly formed the queue.

Also we talked to staff at Talent Central and the Music Emporium about how the signing queues would work there as well and the answers were none too encouraging. At Talent Central, the cast member said there is no set times for queues and they can only officially start lines once they are told, so basically you just need to keep checking and circling until the queue opens for the Meet and Greet you want. It was pretty much the same thing at the Music Emporium with the addition of the signing queue also requiring a product purchase. This was first thing in the morning, though, so they may have learned some things throughout the day and I wouldn't be surprised if come Saturday they institute new policies based on what failed on Friday :/

Finally, I read on Parks on Con twitter that in order to get wristbands for the Black Panther signing folks lined up at 9pm the day before, so expect similar (or worse) craziness on Saturday.

But having said all that, I had an amazing time today and accomplished everything on my wish list (and then some) for the day - Storepass shopping, Animation panel, Incredibles 2 signing, and even an artist signing at the Wonderground Gallery. Plus, I met absolutely wonderful Disney fans in every queue we ended up in, which made passing the time all that quicker.

Live action panel is at capacity for gold currently. Still some space for general but B section looks like it's getting full(maybe three rows left).

Show floor doesn't look too bad.

Trying for section A today. Seems like it has the best exit for trying to get back into the Parks panel.

In line for live action at 310 am.

I feel good with what I got done yesterday.

Mickey's of Glendale in the morning with a 15 minute wait.

Got wristbands for Moana and giacchino autographs.

Walked around the Pixar and Disney animation booth and the SW one.

Saw animation which was great.

Had a store pass for Disney store.

Saw park stars panel.

We'll be leaving in a few minutes to head to convention center and show floor line. Really really hoping to be inside today instead of stuck outside again.

How is the temperature where you guys are waiting? Hot or cold? Should we bring blankets?
