D23 EXPO THREAD - See you in 2019!

The Hilton is *right* there, but I like being closer to the resort - for food choices and getting away from the hubbub of the Expo.

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for the Tinker Bell weekend in May 2015, it is nice.

Being Sorcerer this year, I'm hoping for less time waiting on the concrete and less stress. We're not big shoppers, so it's all about the panels and the experience. Hence going for the slightly more swank Disneyland Hotel.

Ae are Sorcerers too! We did GCH last expo and just spent 5ish bucks on a can each time we wanted to go back and didn't feel like it was a schlep. The Hilton was the choice because originally when we booked it was so much cheaper but when we tried to modify they wanted so much more a night and suddenly DL was cheaper. We shop but will take advantage of the bag check (I heard we get bag check can't remember though). I'm looking forward to not being in the heat that first morning. We showed up like an hour and a half early last time and still barely got in early.

@wilkeliza I remember you saying that you booked a theme park view, sorry the Hilton suddenly screwed up the reservation. That's aggravating.

I believe I've read they had bag check previously, I'm assuming it will still be offered...I hope. I do hope to pick up some stuff shopping, it would be nice to stash stuff.

We've always gotten into the big panels and a few of the smaller ones, but I'm looking forward to a different experience.

Same we got into panels and made the best last year br hoping Sorcerers makes it even better.

There was a pre-release charm at one of the stores at the last expo, but it wasn't exclusive. I don't think Pandora has had a both except for maybe in 2009. They don't sell exclusives for parks or DCL. It's either stuff for the expo, or licensed items like Hallmark. I don't think DCL has had a booth, but they may have been included in some of the larger Imagineering exhibits, like one year they had a large walkthrough that included magic bands, hat box ghost and some other future things they were developing.

@allthenamesaretaken As the others mentioned, at the 2015 Expo Pandora sold the new Disneyland 60th designs (and others, I believe, but I could be wrong) as an early release in the Dream Store. They were not exclusives, though - they were in the parks after that.

You may have some luck in the Collectors Forum if you are looking for limited release items.

I'm really excited about the expo, but not looking forward to all the waiting! I wish they would release the schedule, so I can figure out how much I'll be waiting. lol

My husband and I were just talking about this on our walk yesterday. He is hoping for something Star Wars, like some sort of panel. I think if that is available, he will be going to that solo.

I'm hoping for more Marvel. I was really excited about being a new Marvel fan at the last expo, but there wasn't much.

I'm so excited to find out the schedule! I wish it were possible to make it to all the panels I will want to go to, but of course it's not. Hoping for some more imagineering panels this year. The 60 years of imagineering panel in 2015 was my favorite!

I wish I had made it to that one. I don't even remember what I was doing when it was happening, honestly. Those expos are all kind of a blur of running from one place to another! Amazing, but crazy!

I loved the 2011-2013 Imagineering panels on ride development. Saw Little Mermaid ride one, Star Tours, and Pixar Carsland one. So interesting. Saw one on Monsters University, anything Pixar, I went. In 2015 I went to the large Studio live action and Studio Animation presentations. SO great, even in such large room. Also got to the Parks one.

Getting into the line that is inside the Expo is a huge advantage. Highly recommend this, last time you had to get there before 7 am. I did that Friday and Saturday. Sunday I went later and waiting outside was brutal (it was unusually hot in 2015; in 2011 and 2013 it was cool in the mornings). Inside keeps you cool/warm, dry, and access to bathrooms and even refreshments (huge line, I did not try that). One day I got in by 6 and just made the live action presentation.

This July I am aiming to get there by 5. I know, it is NUTS! But I bring my Kindle, my sense of humor and adventure. Other fans on the lines are great to meet and chat with.

Absolutely, getting into an inside line is a MUST. We got there around 5:30 last year for Saturday and were so glad we weren't waiting outside. Didn't get to any of the main hall panels last year so I'm hoping for that this year, but they take up SO much time, and there is so much else I want to do!

That heat last time was brutal! I got there a little bit later on the last day, and it was SO HOT.

The full schedule always comes much too late for my planner-girl liking. I've been checking the 2015 app, because I'm craving information. The full schedule is still up...and I laugh at all I wanted to do.

Still no news about lining up for 2017. The Things To Know section is still super vague regarding lines. The indoor line was hard on the legs and butt, but was climate controlled.

Same here! Last time it kept changing so I kept reprinting and re-highlighting everything I wanted to do.

No kidding! I WANT TO KNOW!

I ALWAYS skip the Legends ceremony, to see something else. I am tempted to try and see it this time, if Carrie Fisher is nominated. (I understand mixed opinions on this, I just loved her and respected her so much). But, I doubt I will see it. I DID get into the large panels last year on Friday and Saturday. I am a huge Star Wars and Marvel fan, so live action means so much to me. And Animation. and Parks and Resorts, lol. It is so hard to choose, and seeing those makes it hard to get any Stage Passes.

On Sunday I went to the park first to sign my sister and BIL into DCA at 8 am, then dashed to the Expo. So I got there "late", about 8:30 am and it was brutal in the sun, even that early. This time, inside line for me all 3 mornings, assuming they use the same techniques for crowd control. I will also skip the stores completely, they just led to frustration for me. If the panels and the floor are the most enjoyable to me, I will focus on those.

I saw the Legends ceremony sort of by accident the first year I went. They were letting people in just as I got over there, and it was worth a shot to see if I could get in. It was AMAZING. That was the year they had the princess voices and Jim Henson honored. We got to hear all of the princesses sing and Kermit the Frog sang Rainbow Connection. Since then, there hasn't really been anyone I wanted to see badly enough. I just sort of decide how I feel, sometimes on the morning of. Some years, I stand in a lot of lines to see big panels. Others, I pick some small ones and then spend the rest of my time walking around on the floor.
