D23 Expo September 9-11, 2022 Superthread **Updates in Posts 2 & 3**

I am finally getting around to booking my hotel for this year. Has anyone stayed at Sheraton Park for the Expo? I usually stay at the Hilton, but it was so high and required prepay in full, so it's out for me.

We stayed there last time. It was very convenient. We walked through the parking lot and could either go to the Hilton entrance or the front entrance. It wasn't newly updated and felt a little bit old, but it was fine and clean.

After lots of consideration (months worth), I finally decided to get a one-day ticket. My goal is hopefully wandering for a bit and possibly a bit of shopping - I'm hearing Harveys rumors, so that tipped me over the edge.

I've been watching the thread and other groups, I'm curious to see if there is actual limited capacity or if it will be usual free-for-all.

Probably the free-for-all. Ha!

It looks like they're renovating it. Hopefully, it will be done by then.

keep checking the d23 expo hotel website d. you never know if Hilton will become available or closer to the expo date that you can grab.

Agree to keep checking the D23 site. I've now managed to get all but one night that I wanted at the GCH (when it originally was sold out for all dates I am planning) so things do change on there frequently. I'm hopeful I'll still be able to snag that last night too.

Do you guys have any tips for checking the D23 hotel site? Is there a good time to check or just keep checking randomly throughout the day? I keep checking for the Disneyland Hotel but I haven't had any luck.

I check randomly throughout the day. I go to Make Reservation, then click on View All Hotels below the date box because I can see availability without putting in specific dates. I have definitely seen all dates available at various times for DLH. I don't know what exact dates you want (just expo days, days before or after etc.) but right now DLH is showing available Wed, Sat, Sun and Mon. Even if this doesn't cover all your dates now you may want to just grab the days it does cover and hold them. Then when you see additional days pop up-even as 1s or 2s you can modify to add them. I just did this earlier today adding on Friday to my existing Sat-Tues GCH reservation. In the end (or when it gets closer to cancellation cutoff anyway) if you don't end up with the full reservation you want just cancel the whole thing (all that assumes you already have a backup option booked).

I’m debating between flying or driving on the Thursday. I live in Northern California so I can do either with no work conflicts but flying is more convenient. How bad are the airports/Ubers during convention times?

Was planning on skipping this year’s Expo, but with Lady Gaga performing at Dodger stadium that weekend, count me in for Sunday D23 fun.

Have we heard when reservations will be opening for panels?

Really depends on the airport. LGB SNA and BUR are not too painful on the wallet or time. For LAX, hoping in any car rental shuttle to their lot and then taking the Uber from there can save you $$.

What @ThisIsHowWeDo said, the Expo isn't really big enough to impact the local airports - they are busy, generally. The traffic from LAX (or Burbank) can be horrible or manageable, it depends on the arrival time. Same for ride share pricing.
