D23 Expo 2015 - Who's in? Roll call!

I totally forgot they will empty the hall between presentations. I'm so used to the SDCC model that I forgot Disney's way makes more sense. Will be interesting to see if they separate the early line-ups based on what panel you want to see, especially for Saturday.

I will be definitely going to the Goofy Movie presentation, and I will be in cosplay, too, as Goofy! My sister is planning on cosplaying as Roz from "Monsters, Inc."!

Nice! I wanted to be there for that, but couldn't get Friday off. Then I'm being told my coworker might cancel his PTO, so I may get Friday off anyway (only changes when I leave Friday after work vs early am Friday). Since I don't have a Friday expo pass, we'll probably just hit the park haha.

I think the SW geeks will be at the movie presentation, rather than the parks presentation. Just a guess, but it looks like a new trailer is all but guaranteed. They did announce they will discuss Alice, so that has my teenager daughters in a frenzy.

I think we are sticking with our early am plan. If announcements or the line make it obvious we will not make the 10:30 panel, we will head out for breakfast and then get into the gold line and hope to score a good stagepass and store pass for later.

See, I don't even know which presentation the Star Wars info would be at! I thought they might be talking about the new Star Wars land at DHS or whatever the plan is. Didn't even think of the movie. Guess I'll be skipping that one too.

New question.:duck:

Do those with the sorcerers package get in even before those with Gold membership? Is there three lines or something?

Am I also correct, that as a Gold member once you are let in, you then have to make it to the Store pass desk to get the pass? Are the sorcerer's ticket holders doing the same thing?

The movie stuff will be at the Saturday panel called "Worlds, Galaxies and Universes: Live Action ..."

I had a question. This will be our first time going to D23, which I am very excited about! We really want to attend the Friday animated Pixar/Disney announcement session at 3. What I wanted to know is how the lines will work for this one. Going through this thread, I saw people saying that overnight queuing won't be necessary for this presentation, but I wanted to make sure. Does anyone know in previous years how the second presentation of the day worked in terms of lines? Also, is there any hope of going to both Hall D23 presentations on Saturday (live action and parks)?

There will be no lining up overnight for the second presentations, I assume they will have an area inside the Convention Center after the show floors open for the second presentation.

Thanks for the info! So waiting in line early for the show floor might be our best bet?

...My sister just bought the family gold D23 membership. We have already gotten out tickets. Can we swap the general ones out? How does this work? Thanks for any info.

I would have your sister call D23 to ask, but my instinct tells me that her new membership will not cover your tickets retroactively. Unless she buys you new tickets, your general status will stand. But see what D23 has to say about it.

I think I read somewhere that if you upgrade after you've bought tickets, you can use your new status. I can't remember where I read that though.

Just to update, in case anyone else finds themselves doing what we did.

We called and wrote D23. They told us the same thing. Bring our regular tickets to will call and as long as we have the email confirmation and new gold number we can exchange the tickets. She bought the family gold package. We will bring the email from D23 saying this and the confirmation of gold membership and go to will call on Friday to change them.

Thanks for all the help.

That's my plan too... not going to wait more than a few hours, and the live action panel would be a great "nice to have" for me, not a must have. I'm also more excited for the Parks panel at this point, so that might require some more commitment.

Let's all hope the 7,000 seat arena really is a huge improvement over the 2013 Hall D23!

Lots of recommendations on social media are starting to pop up. One interesting discussion talked about the Hall floor plan. Media has been told to bring high powered cameras, since the floor is flat, unlike the arena. That sounds like anyone not seated in the first dozen rows will be watching video monitors.

Question... I know everyone has to be present, in line for the Hall, but what about Stagepass/Storepass? Could my party split into two lines?

I emailed D 23 a few weeks ago with the same question, and they told me yes it would. They did say I would have to exchange my ticket at the event.

Edited to add that I now see other people had already responded, so I guess I'm just confirming what others had said! ;-)

With the Saturday morning live action movie session (Galaxies and what not) being one in which they will limit photography, according to other websites, will that mean they will check every single person cell phone?

Last year when they had Stage Pass, each badge was scanned as you told them what presentation you wanted to see, so you all had to be there.

In the past, yes, no cameras or cell phones were allowed in the presentations that were showing sneak footage or previously unreleased trailers. You handed them your phone, they put it in a zip lock baggie with half a raffle ticket and you got the other half of the ticket to claim your phone after the presentation.

So will this process keep me from getting in or getting a better seat?
