I am sure this is not the right place for this....please feel free to move this post.

Are there any D23 members out there? I am thinking of joining but wanted to know a little mroe about it. What are the benefits?

Thank you!

It is the ultimate Disney fan club. It is run by Disney. Just Google D23 and the website will come up.

I'm a D23 member, and I love the magazine! It has wonderful articles as well as beautiful drawings and photographs.

I'm a member, but probably won't renew. The magazine is nice but can be bought separately. They have had some awesome events at WDW - unfortunately they are very hard to get tickets for. I tried to sign up for one and even though I clicked on the link exactly when they opened it I was unable to get tickets. Apparently it sold out within seconds!

Is D23 only available to those living in the USA? Just had a look at the site, looks interesting but i couldn't see if there was any membership restrictions. :confused3

I'm a member. I love the magazine, it is absolutley beautiful. Plus there are a few little "surprises" included with each issue of the magazines that were completley unexpected, to me at least. I think it is well worth the money. I'm going to renew membership again.

To the OP: You're right, I'm not sure what's the best place either but it's definitely not a resorts topic.

I'm going to move this to the Collectors board for now. I hope that's correct now.

I'm a member also. As others have mentioned, you receive a quarterly magazine which contains lots of info on what's going on at Disney. There are usually several articles about Disney Imagineering and other events which happened during the early years of the company. They have special events for members but unless you live in California or Florida, these are not pratical for most people to attend. They've offered several tours of the Walt Disney Archives, which I would love to do. There are also members only merchandise which you can purchase on Disney Shopping. I'm hoping that the benefits of membership will be expanded during 2010.

If you're intestered in joining, there is currently a $10 discount for joining by 12/31/09 and you would included as a "charter member". You can join at DisneyShopping.com.

:confused3 Does anyone know if us brits can join?

I wish I could help you with this one. If you go to DisneyStore.com, there is a "contact us" link near the bottom of the home page. You could send them an e-mail and "maybe" they'll let you know. The main website for D23 is www.disney.com/d23. There maybe some additional info regarding memberships there.

There's an extensive D23 thread on the theme parks community board here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2114895

Post #5 on the thread is from a member in Scotland who joined so it must be possible, however expensive.

I have joined. It's worth noting the cost to join for us in the UK is $132.94.

It was $74.99 plus $57.95. I initially thought - oh that's a lot for one magazine and a membership card, but then of course I realised that is the price of sending the magazine 4 times in total making shipping $14.49 per issue - which actually is very reasonable indeed for international shipping, so I am happy.

I am very excited now and want to log in to buy a couple of the pins but I can't get on.

Well, the answer is "yes". I went to the Disney Store website and started the process to order a gift membership. The total cost for someone in the UK is $126.84. You just need to go to their website and order a D23 membership. You'll need to register for the DisneyStore site then when you check-out, it will provide the option of the "country" where the membership will be sent. The cost for shipping to the UK is $57.95.

I am a member. I went to the D23 Expo in Sept and the Magic and Merriment Event in WDW earlier in the month. I am enjoying my membership.

Have a Happy New Year everyone!!!!party:

Many thanks for the help on the old UK availablity issue. Saddly i think the old shipping costs have put and end to joining, but you never know I may change my mind once our next trip to WDW is all paid for.

Happy new year everyone :cheer2::cheer2:

Just joined the ranks of D23 charter members on the last possible day to do so. Did some research and was able to secure the D23 Charter Year Jiminy Cricket pin under the disneyshopping price (after taxes and shipping were calculated). I accomplished exactly what I wanted; I just hope that membership benefits improve beyond access to exclusive merchandise and being mailed four magazines in 2010. Not everyone resides near an ocean and/or has money to burn. Yay for D23!!! :yay:

D23 has announced numerous member events for 2010. There is now a silver membership for people who are not interested in the magazine subscription.

February 13, April 10, August 14 and November 13, 2010: D23 Day at The Walt Disney Studios and Archives

D23 Members will get a behind-the-scenes look at the legendary Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank and at the Walt Disney Archives on a two-hour tour hosted by D23 and Archives staff members. Three tours will be held on each date, and each tour can accommodate 50 people. In D23's Charter Year, these special tours sold out almost immediately. Tickets for the February 13 and April 10 tours will be available at 10 a.m. Pacific time Tuesday, January 26 and are $50 per person.

March 5, 2010: D23's First-Anniversary Party at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Hundreds of D23 Members are expected to gather from around the country — and around the world — for a once-in-a-lifetime night of magic and memories. The evening's festivities include a private dinner inside the Magic Kingdom's Diamond Horseshoe Saloon, followed by an exclusive D23 viewing of Mickey's PhilharMagic. Afterward, guests will hear insider details about the upcoming Fantasyland expansion from Walt Disney Imagineering. The celebration will also feature a sumptuous dessert party, a special commemorative pin for everyone attending and a host of surprises.

March 10, 2010: D23's First-Anniversary Party at the Disneyland® Resort
D23 will hold its one and only West Coast anniversary celebration in the most magical land at the Happiest Place on Earth: Fantasyland. D23 Members will take over all of Fantasyland for one amazing night filled with classic attractions, familiar characters (as well as a few you may not have seen in a while!) and a chance to see rare pieces of Disneyland history up close. Plus, D23 Members and their guests will enjoy an array of delicious Disney-inspired desserts, a special commemorative pin for everyone attending and other surprises.

March 27, 2010: "50 and Fabulous" Screening of Toby Tyler
At last year's D23 Expo, Disney fans had a chance to see Disney masterpieces that were celebrating their Golden Anniversaries… a new D23 tradition that continues in 2010, this time in the recently renovated, state-of-the-art, 400-seat Studio Theater on the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank. Tickets to the "50 and Fabulous" screenings are free for D23 Members and their guests, and the series kicks off with a movie that hasn't been seen on the big screen since its first release in 1960: Toby Tyler, or 10 Weeks with a Circus. D23's screening of this lighthearted, live-action comedy will combine with special D23 surprises and the opportunity to enjoy a movie in this exclusive cinematic venue. Reservations may be made beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday, January 26. (A $5 processing fee for each ticket will apply.)

Additional D23 special events are planned throughout 2010, including:

May 8: "50 and Fabulous" screening of Pollyanna at the Walt Disney Studio Theatre

May 29-30: "Flowers and Fireworks" event at the Walt Disney World Resort, adding all-new elements as D23 expands the festivities to two days
