What EPCOT news should I be looking forward to? I appear to have missed this.

The tweet linked to above. 'Marty Sklar just said Tom Fitzgerald is now in charge of the "next iteration" of Epcot'.

If there is a 'next iteration' I'm assuming that means SOMETHING is getting overhauled. Whether that's Future World finally being retooled or World Showcase becoming 'Disney Movies Vaguely Associated with Foreign Countries-Land', we don't know.

I hope it's future world being redone. I like more of an authentic feel in world showcase.

I would be extremely excited for either of these announcements. As the biggest park, I think it had the most untapped potential. I don't think the current Epcot is bad but it could feature so much more.

Let's just remember to keep our expectations realistic. An announcement is very likely, but let's remember that we still have a couple of D23 Expos more before we get Star Wars Land.

I would hate that for the world showcase. My favorite park is the park within the park, the World Showcase. Its like a huge part of WDW that caters to the adults. I can't afford to travel all over Europe, but I can afford to spend a day there when I visit WDW and enjoy 10 new countries. I like that it feels pretty authentic. Tying every country into a Disney movie would be bleh for me.

Good advice. There may be some great surprises, but it's just as likely there's radio silence. I'm optimistic myself, but I understand that the only big news we may hear today could revolve around Avatar, Innoventions, and Shanghai. Big details like Future World refurbs are unlikely for the keynote.

Though the most exciting thing about this is we have no idea what they're going to do. That's a first in quite sometime. It's pretty exciting!

The "next iteration" really could be either, but to completely go against the original idea of World Showcase seems a bit much for Disney to go against. I would vote for an overhaul of Future World at the front. It is no longer "future" but more "how we thought the future would be in the 1980's." Possibly something similar to the Tron-land they are getting in Shanghai?!

I would really hope they don't choose radio silence for DHS at least. Word of mouth can very quickly spread that everything is closing and there is "nothing to do" there. Without some form of future idea, no one can overtly refute that. Four moving rides a park does not make.

I think it is highly likely DHS news will come out today, because as you said it has been in the works for such a long while. It has also been said this is the biggest D23 yet in terms of scale and news so lets hope!

Sorry to spark a rumor, guys. Marty's quote means something is at least being thought of but I do not expect any announcements to be made at the panel today.

At most we'll get the DHS name change and *possibly* an update on whatever is coming to the back section that they're currently ripping out.

A DHS name change is the most likely to be announced out of all the rumours.

Actually I don't know about that. I don't see them changing the name right away. It's likely the name will be changed later after some things are added.
