My post office apparently has at least one jerk.
I used the automated postage machine to mail. And today I rec'd my package back to affix more postage.
Probably took a lot more effort on the post office staff's part to return to me than to pass it through for extra cents. Esp when it was obvious the $ sticker came from USPS. It's not like I guessed and just plastered the package with stamps.
So, mine will be RE-MAILED tomorrow.
