D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Great update, gf. I'm with you...I'd be "messing my pants" as well...I don't like traffic, cars going fast, etc. It seems that whenever we drive somewhere and Mark is going around 7 miles over the speed limit, there are hundreds of cars going 20 miles over the speed limit...especially on two lane roads. :scared1:

You still coming to CT this summer? I still am holding myself liable to taking you out for some Pepe's Pizza!!!!!!!!!! (or something like that!)

I had to laugh at this. I've lived just minutes from New Haven my entire life and I've still yet to have pizza at Pepe's or Sally's. When I was in college this was a source of endless fascination to the NY guys who would drive all the way out there just for pizza.

You can do this 5K! How long doesn't matter at all Liesa, just that you did it!

Ok, not that you were all in intense suspense or anything...

45:15

Is there any possible way to shave 1/3 of that off?? As I look at it today, I may as well ask to be on the next Space Shuttle.

PLEASE READ THE NEXT UPDATE!!!!

I just got off the phone with maroo who was admitted to the hospital yesterday. The scans showed that she has collitis, which I know absolutely NOTHING about! They are not sure if it's infectious or the other kind (I didn't quite understand the word she used), but is on an IV drip of antibiotics.

I'm starting to wonder if this 3-woman army is really going to actually make it to WDW all in one piece- well, I mean 3 separate pieces. (That's some tricky syntax there!) When I said we all had some real-life battles to fight, I really didn't think it'd include all of THIS!!

She is supposed to be out Wednesday or Thursday.

Oh, poor Maroo. If you talk to her again, hugs and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Nice job on the run. I was hoping you'd make it under 50 minutes, so good job!

Wishing Maroo a speedy recovery.

Oh my goodness, I hope Maroo has a very speedy recovery!

Me too! She's already having some issues with her foot, and this is just "icing on the cake".

Thanks! I was hoping for under 40. I guess my goal was a bit unrealistic. HOWEVER, I actually had two goals. The other was distance related.

I set out to walk a lap, run 2, walk 1, run 2- repeated 4 times (+the 1/2 extra to make up the 12 and 1/2 needed for a 5 K on a 400m track). That I ALMOST did. I got a side cramp in lap 11 that was supposed to be run and had to walk 1/2 of it. I am ok with what I did in that regard.

Anyway, a 5K in 30 minutes in 9 weeks of training is highly doubtful... at least for me. But I will press on, and see what 3 more weeks does to the ol' bod.

Aw man, poor Maroo! I hope she gets to feeling better. I was just looking at my pics from last June's trip and of course the first pic in the album is our DIS meet! :)

I am so interested in your updates about your trip. It is all so interesting. I think I would be "messing in my pants" a lot from the experiences you were having!

Hi Bekka,

I'm new to all of this stuff but hopefully I am giving you the correct info:

when you login, click private messages.
Then click: Edit your details
under additional information you should see location.

Hope that helps!

Thank you!! :)

Oh no, I hope Maroo will make a fast recovery! I will pray for her.

I think 45 minutes is still a good time! When I run 5k it takes me about 37 minutes in a normal training run. 5k in 30 minutes is really pretty fast for a normal leisure jogger I think. Anyway, it is more important to find your own speed anyway than hunt for a certain time, unless you are set on becoming competitive.

Are you going to bring your running stuff to Nuremberg? We could go for a run along the river together! :goodvibes

And I can tell you that I just bought a bottle of the raspberry flavoured wheat beer, it is in my ice box now! Along with some Fassbrause - which looks pretty nasty btw. :confused3

Running a 5K in 30 minutes is right about a 10 minute mile. That's pretty darn fast for a beginner (I know some veteran runners who don't run that fast) so stop being down on yourself about it. You did great! Like I said on FB, most of us who graduate from C25K cannot run a 5K in 30 minutes. We can run for 30 minutes straight and then we work at increasing our speed.

Sorry to hear about Maroo. Hope she's better soon.

Poor Maroo!! she will be in my prayers for a quick recovery!

Was that a statue of Lenin on the top of that building? If so, why is it still there? I would assume that the people who have lived under that type of government wouldn't want him glorified...but that's just me.

Poor Maroo! That must be scary for her. I hope she recovers soon. Keep us posted.

Looks like you had quite the weather in those pictures of your last post. The security check points sound scary. I can't imagine how they'd treat people who couldn't speak the local language :scared1:

So, cottonwoods grow in Berlin too? I thought they mostly only grew in dry, warm climates?

I find it interesting that the cottonwoods here in Nebraska are "snowing" too. It is very warm and humid here.

Prayers for Maroo. I hope she feels better soon.

Poor Maroo !! My mother suffered with ulcerated colitis for many years and had to have an Iliostomy !!! Maroo watch what you eat as many things make it worse BUT make sure you consuklt a dietician so you get all the vitamins you need !!! Not doing so for 8 years caused Mum to have many blind spots in her vision and I got used to being told I had NO HEAD!!!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh Maroo! Get better, girl!

Liesa, I've finally caught up. How's your hand feeling? Yikes, that looked like a bad bite. But I think I'd have bit anyone that tried to help me during my labor, too;)

Your "vacation" story is turning out to be quite the adventure! Life is going to be so boring for you when you get back to the states - everything is too easy here!

Love that you were able to witness and have a part in a man finding Jesus. What a high note to leave Blankastan on. :cloud9:

Oh my goodness, poor maroo! Liesa, please give her our best and heartfelt prayer when you speak with her? :grouphug:

I came over to check this thread and saw Rosie's post or would have missed it - for some reason have not been receiving update emails lately and wind missing several important posts. :confused3
