D-Con...Does it work to kill mice?

Do you think it would work with squirrels? I heard it works by making them really thirsty, so they leave to go find water. I have a mama squirrel who likes to take up vacancy every spring with her new babies in a small hole directly on the peak of my roof. I don't want them to die, however, not a big fan of critters in my roof!

Not sure if squirrels would eat it, but if they did, I would assume they would die just as the mouse would.

I've had a few unwanted visitors in the garage. Did the poison thing and ended up with something smelly I had to find. Not fun. Recently saw evidence that we had another visitor. Did some internet searches and found this http://www.ratzapper.com/ . Within a week it took care of 2 visitors and it's still out there just in case another finds its way in. More expensive solution but I couldn't deal with a live trap, kill traps are gross, and I'm not comfortable with the poisons between the having to find them and the risk to my pets. I won't use anything else ever again.

edited to add - you can get them from several sources just do a search. I ended up ordering from an Amazon company.

I just looked into this. Any idea what stores sell them? I want to get one right away without having to wait for shipment.

Also, how do you know exactly where to put it and how does it work?

I didn't see that it was available in stores but it might be, shipping was pretty quick. It electrocutes them, hence the name. It has a light that tells you when it has a critter for you. There are instructions that tell you the best placement.

A couple months back I noticed that the motion sensor light on our kitchen patio kept going off. The only time it usually gets activated is when the dog is out there or the wind is blowing the tree around. The dog was by my side and there was no wind. I flip on the kitchen light and look out the window to see more than 50 mice in the tree and crawling all over the patio furniture.

After I stopped screaming, I threw on DH's mukluks, placed a step ladder at the door, reached for the hose and started blasting them. Then I ran to the store, bought the entire stock of D-Con and littered the entire area outside the patio, where the dog can't get to, with the little blocks. I'm pretty sure I have killed every mouse, rat & squirrel in my area, which I don't feel good about, but if you think 1 or 2 are scary, try 50. I didn't sleep for a week imagining they were in the house.

Yes, D- Con does work. We live out in the country and always leave some out. There are two things to be careful or though. 1. If you have a pet make sure they can't get to it. 2. If the mouse eats it and then the cat eats the mouse then the cat will die too. So be careful..

We used the DCON because DS thought he heard a mouse walking around in the attic, and we saw a few droppings under the insulation.
It worked, and it smelled so bad that DS had to move out of his room for a week until the smell went away. The mouse died and hid under the insulation in the attic above DS's room. DH had to go into the attic and pull up all the insulation in the attic, he only found one mouse, but you would have thought it was a dozen with the smell, it was that bad.
I tore apart his room and washed everything, gave it a good cleaning but there were no signs of anything in there, thank god.
Be prepared for the smell, I don't know if he was just a juicy one LOL or they all smell like that, but it was enough that we had to close off that end of the house. YUCKY

As un update, I set DCon up all over my upstairs where my wife saw the mouse when I got home from work on Friday. Oddly, I heard the little rodent chewing away at the box behind my bureau on Friday night. Since, then, I've heard nothing.

The box says it can take a few feedings for them to die, but we haven't seen or heard anything since Friday night.
