Thought this was interesting: I was checking Hotel Kingdom for a possible stay late this year, and noticed that the payment policy now mentions that a $50 (refundable) security fee will be charged at check in. I just stayed at Cypress Pointe in December and we weren't charged this fee, so I'm assuming this is new.

yes there are several new fees.

for RCI members there is now a $200 fee that will be returned after you check out.

I don't know if the reason is the same as CWR. some guests were not checking out on time. but weren't returning to the desk to check out....

so the extra charge is to make sure you check out on time and return to the desk....

I hate returning to the front desk - I love WDW express check out.....

Pat do RCI Members have to check out at the desk at Vistana ? I know, as an owner, all we have to do is give our key to the guard at the security gate as we exit the resort. It's like Vistana's version of express checkout I guess. I know the subject is Cypress Pointe, but I was just curious if this is a standard RCI policy at all/most resorts. Thanks.

I guess if its refundable, I do not mind.

Maybe they were having problems with damage to the rooms?? I like this method of collecting money from those that do the damage rather than increase rates for the rest of us.

I don't mind anything that's refundable. I always have enough credit card space for that kind of stuff. What I liked was no resort fee, no cleaning fee on check-out etc. You have to pay for maid service, but I'll be there for only 5 nights in a 1-bedroom by myself, so I won't need housekeeping except maybe 1 session mid-stay, which will cost $35. Considering that my conference hotel would have cost $249, and the other hotel I had booked (and cancelled when I found this deal!) was a simple Holiday Inn Express that cost $139, I feel like I'm getting a great deal at $82! I don't need room service, onsite restaurant etc. - I will mostly be out and about, and will stock the room with some fruit, snacks etc. for the mornings that I do get to hang around and enjoy the resort. There are so many places within walking distance, I can always find something to eat! I'm very happy with this deal, and I was wanting to check out CP anyway as a potential exchange for our family trip next year!

While some people don't mind the fee-- I think that there are just as many that will. There are so many places to stay in the WDW area. That I know myself-- I can't be bothered w/ the hassle of making sure I'm getting my $50 back. So, that would cross this resort off my list of places I'd stay as well as recommend.
