Anyone who has seen this bedroom (the little one with the trundle bed), is there anywhere at all in this room that would fit an air mattress? If so, would it need to be single, or would a double fit? Does the trundle push right up against the twin, or is there a space between them that can't be eliminated?

I'm trying to figure out where everyone will sleep on our upcoming vacation. We have a 3 bedroom, but my parents will have one room, DH and I will have one room, which leaves only the tiny room and the sofa bed for the 3 kids. Now, they are small and are used to sleeping together, so we'd like to put all 3 in that room if they could fit, so that the living room would be free for the 2 adult couples to socialize in after the kids are in bed. If an air mattress could fit I would arrange to borrow one from a friend in Orlando (those things are too heavy to travel with, not to mention the pump!).

Are there any other arrangements that could be made for small children?

This isn't the greatest picture, but here's the bedroom without the trundle pulled out. It's a pretty small bedroom.

I think there's a chair over on the right hand side that you could move out the living room. You could then pull the trundle out and put it against the wall where the chair is. You could then put a twin-sized air bed in the middle of the room. I don't think there's any way a double mattress would fit with the trundle out. You'd have wall-to-wall beds, but I think it would be fine for 3 young kids.

Here's a link to a floorplan diagram that looks like bedroom 2 has the trundle pulled out beside the other bed, and it shows the chair you can barely see in my picture. http://www.cypresspointe.net/floorplan.html

I do think the arrangement I described would work.

Thanks. I had seen the floorplan, but then I've read reviews that stated that you basically couldn't walk in that room with the trundle pulled out, so I wondered if an airbed would fit! I saw the chair in the floorplan, and thought maybe it could be moved, but things aren't always as they appear on a floorplan! I know my friend has a double mattress - I'll ask her if she also has a twin. If not, they probably don't cost too much at Walmart - I could just borrow her pump then (unless I buy an auto-inflate).

Coco,
We stayed in one of these units at CP a couple of years back. You can definitely do what mareed mentioned. We moved the chair out and re-arranged the beds. You'll be able to get a twin air mattress in the middle of the two beds but the kids will be three-in-a-row.

I just checked Wal-Mart's website and found this:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3866336

Looks like the twin is $37.82 but it has to be shipped to the store with 7-10 days advance notice. No shipping fee, though. I don't know if this will work for you to order it in advance and have it sent. All the other air mattresses on the website appear to be full size or larger. This looks like the only twin.

Thanks Lisa! What's annoying is that I have 2 twin airbeds here, but they are heavy and I'm not flying with them! We use them for beach houses etc., but we're driving then, so it doesn't matter.

It's good to know that we may be able to have all the kids in that room - it means we can put them to bed, close in the door, and still have the use of the kitchen and living room without disturbing them. They are early risers, so except for the couple of late nights in the parks, we will be putting them to bed early at night.

this is the room before we took the bed out from the bottom.

this is the room after.

Awesome photos! It definitely looks like I might even be able to squeeze in a double airbed if I had to, if I moved the other furniture out! We really only plan on using the room for sleeping, and maybe watching a DVD during quiet times.

Thanks!!

Coco,
If I recall correctly, that triangular table that's in between the two beds is actually affixed to the wall. I'm pretty sure that's why we didn't move it.

I am resurrecting this thread to ask: if we didn't bring out the trundle, and we did move out the chair, could we then fit a full size inflatable mattress? My 4 yo DD loves to sleep with her 5 yo sister, and they would be very happy on the mattress that I can borrow from my friend in orando. DS could then sleep on the twin bed. We just wouldn't bring the trundle out from under the twin, so that we'd have the floor space. Doable?

The other option is to buy a very padded sleeping bag type mattress - we don't have one of those, and DS will need one for cub scout camp in June anyway. Any suggestions on what to buy that will roll up for camp, but will also be comfortable enough to sleep on for 2 weeks? We could possibly put it on top of couch or chair cushions to give extra back support.

Never mind - my friend told me that her mattress is less than 2 twins, so it should fit if the trundle isn't out.

I'm in the 3 bedroom unit right now & just paced off the open floor space in the 2nd bedroom. It's about 6 feet wide by 8 feet long with the furniture in place. You add another 3 feet in length without the chair.

Wow, thanks for doing that! Sounds like a definite fit!

My son pulled the trundle out right next to the twin and there was no space to even walk in the room. To put an airbed in would be way too tight, in my opinion.

I wonder if all the second bedrooms are the same size? It doesn't seem that way from the descriptions I'm getting!
