CVS Weekly 8/16-8/23

Did everyone else get weird $/$$ coupons this week? I got $7/$49 from the scanner! I don't think I'll use it though!

I got $6/$36. Very strange amount. I was wondering if there was some kind of connection with the numbers (besides being a multiplication fact eq. 6x6=36). but I guess not if others are getting other amounts.

I did surprisingly well today. They had all the school supplies and I'm pretty sure I made like $8 ECBs. Here is my transaction:

Papermate pens .99 x 2= 1.98
Filler paper .99x 2= 1.98
Mini comp book 1.99 x 2= 3.98
School box 1.99 x 2 = 3.98
Earphones 6.99
Hershey Xlg bar 1.99 bogo
J&J first aid .99 x 2 = 1.98
Sticker fillers 3.00

total $ 25.88
- $5/25 Cvs website survey
- $2/10 Cvs Brand (thank goodness they had all supplies)
- $ 1 and .98 J&J (adjusted seond coupon down)
- CRT for Hershey's XLG bogo (should've been 1.99 but rang as 2.99)

$13.91 paid in ECB's and received $20.91 in ECBS. But actually my stickers only rang up as $1 for some reason. Which is why I guess my $5/25 beeped. But she just overrode it. So I paid 11.98 in ECB's and received $20.91 for a profit of $ 8.93

I'm happy, And surprised. I wasn't thinking I'd make money on it! Wish I could make that mistake everytime I go in!

Oh yeah. I was able to pay for my whole purchase with ECBs. I didn't have to pay any tax at all. I was surprised because I've had to other times. But I know many of you are not experiencing that. I'm in Massachusetts.

Did 2 runs today...no earphones at either store, but did all the rest of the school freebies..

My store had the earphones behind the counter. I had to ask for them.

I did the pepsi, pens, comp books, earphones and 4 J&J kits on each card. I used the $5/$25 and the $1 J&J coupons, paid the balance in ECB's and .12 OOP and walked out with $1 more in ECB than I spent

I did the pencil boxes at another store and paid OOP .02. Neither store had the filler paper but I got rainchecks.

Rite Aid I did well too. I got the Renuzit Crystal Elements, poster paint, 2 Intuitions (bogo) and 2 Schick Quattros (bogo). Used 4 of the $4 schick coupons, a $2 Renuzit coupon and the $5/$25. After tax and rebates I will have about .78 OOP

I did absolutely AMAZING at Kmart today with the doubles. I asked and was told the limit was 10 but they would allow multiple transactions. Well 5 minutes later the manager hunted me down and told me that I could use as many coupons as I wanted, they weren't sticking to the limit due to complaints to the district manager I had about 125 coupons though so I broke it down into two transactions so that I wouldn't tie up a register too long (since they only had 2 going). I got $5 Kmart coupons on the catalina both times plus $5 CRTs so I used one on each transaction plus have 2 left. I spent $7 ($3 was tax) for $200+ worth of stuff the first transaction. The second transaction I did spend $40 on about $250 worth of stuff....but $30 of that was for socks, clearance clothes, copy paper and a soda for me that weren't part of the coupon doublers and $4 was tax!

I am heading back out tomorrow to do some more deals that I missed today and to use up those $5 coupons. You don't have to spend a certain amount to use them so it is free money!!!! Momtosam.....I was at the 5th Street Kmart if that helps you! They were really great to me there! I had a blast

Which stores are ready with the new week's deals on the Saturday night before? I've never tried that before. I've been worrying about what I will do when the kids' Sunday School starts up and I can't get to CVS first thing Sunday morning!

For Saturday night shopping, I only will go to the 183 store or 222 store because they have scanners so I can check to make sure the sales prices are on (usually after 6). I like to scan everything because sometimes if a sale overlaps the prior weeks sale will still be in place. I don't go often though on a Saturday because sometimes the right price rings but the bucks don't print for whatever reason. Also special sales like the 3 day sale or the Thanksgiving sales are not turned on early.

If I remember tight from when I lived there before MA is one of those "tax only after all man. qs deducted" states and if the coupon is for a free item or makes the item free you pay zero in tax. So now that cvs is doing it correctly by state that could be why.

My store was out of the mini comp books, said the warehouse is out. I got 10 j&j first aid kits. I love money makers! I burned it on the toilet paper because we need some soon and I can't get it free anymore at kroger .

I'm getting my coupons ready for a K-mart run and have a couple of questions from the list that was posted (well, the link was ).

What are the "June", August", etc... magazines referred to throughout?

What is Catalina? It's listed in the promotions at the bottom. I looked at the link but it didn't mention that name, just get a coupon towards your next purchase...

Where/how do I get a K-mart coupon book?

A catalina is a coupon that prints at the register when you buy certain items. The machine/company that puts them out is called catalina and that is why they are called that.

They are valid for your next purchase at that store and are often valid on anything but occassionally they have exclusions (I know you can't buy alcohol with them in my state)

New Deal:

HCW is reporting that a 10 ct box of CVS tampons is $1.89 and receiving 1.89 ECB's. They say it looks like a new deal separate from a few weeks ago.

I haven't tried it yet myself. Will try tomorrow. Some are reporting signage up in their stores! Good luck!

I used one a week ago and went to use one today and was told I had already used it once (she even gave me the exact date) and was not allowed a second time. I am starting to think I need a CVS break and new card as I never get any $/$$ coupons and am having a hard time making good deals!

You know what I just realized, I'm surprised you could use your Catalinas right away. They last time they did doubles they were dated to begin the following week or maybe your cashier just pushed it through. You should see the pile of q's I have ready to go tomorrow. I realize they won't have everything in stock and I have to take my kids along -ugh- but I'm hoping to do really well. This nice thing is that it lasts all week long. I would think that stores restock sometime mid-week.

You have to clear the flash cookie and take the quiz again to get a new unique code to use it again (and again).

I can't remember the specific directions, but I posted it as a link the day I posted the quiz. Basically you right-click on the survey area before you start it, select settings then move the sliding thing to zero, then say ok, then move it back to "100" then close it.

LanaJae linked a way to get around that last week and it works!

Go to CVS.com
When the Ready Fill slide comes up on the main page right click on it
Click settings
Click on the folder icon
Slide the slider back to 0
Click OK
Slide the slider back to 100 KB
Click close

Then take the quiz again and it will print you a $5/25 with a new code number. Repeat above steps as often as you'd like! HTH
