Cvs weekly 4/4-4/10

I have to say, I always see this thread, but never go on. But I went on this one out of curiosity to see what was on sale for next week. WOW. You put alot into this thread and I for one, just want to say how cool it is that you do this. I had no idea. I try really hard to coupon clip, shop our sale at Kroger....but this....this is awesome. I never pay much attention to the CVS ECB. But after reading this, I have to say, I've changed my tune. I took your sale items and put them against what I've got for coupons and figured I could get $ 50 (on sale) and get $16 ECB. (with using the coupons I have, it would bring it to $35.)

You've opened up my eyes to CVS deals Flakypuff !! :worship: Thank you dearly ! I'll be a regular reader of your threads from now on !!!

If you break your purchase down into smaller transactions, you can pay even less out of pocket! Just use the ECB's you earned from the first transaction and pay for the next with those. Most of us do that all the time. I have a small scissors in my coupon folder and will do my first transaction, jump out of line to organize my coupons and snip off the ECB's I need, then get back in line for my next transaction. You may feel weird doing it, but trust me, people do it all the time. The cashiers are used to it.

I need to start thinking and organizing for NEXT week, but here's what I did today:

4 Dark Chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Cups @ 2/$1 minus 4 .55 Q's
1 Colgate Total $2.99 minus $1 coupon (expired) ~ $2 ECB's back
1 Complete $8.99 minus $2 coupon (expired) ~ 8.99 ECB's back
3 Stride gum @.99 minus B2G1 free coupon and two mystery coupons for .50 each ~ .99 ECB back
12 Soy Joy bars on clearance for .65 each minus 4 Q's for B2G1 free ~ $6 ECB's back (buy 4/get 2 ECB's monthly deal)
2 Nature's Bounty Niacin @ $8.99 ~ BOGO ~ minus two $5 IP Q's
1 CVS paper towels 1.29 minus $1 CVS Q from scanner

Also used $4 off $20 CVS (expired) coupon, $12 in ECB's, and $1.09 on money card and got back $17.98 ECB's. Also got a whopping .50 ECB for quarterly spending when I scanned my card! :rotfl2:

I know many CVSes won't accept expired coupons but we have a great store that happily accepts expired coupons so we are very fortunate. :yay:

I'm pretty irritated. I don't think that is fair at all. I get not doing the ECBs when people don't pay anything for the insurance, that makes sense. But we do.
So they are doing an inquiry and if it comes back that that is truly the reason I am DONE filling prescriptions at CVS. It just really irritates me. I'll go to Rite Aid and pay the same co-pay, thanks! Gr.

Hormones are flying! :rotfl:

We don't get them either for tricare. We don't pay in but it bugged me too. It's not like it's medicaid, that I can understand not paying people for filling scripts but with fed. employee they should pay them. Especially in your case where you are paying premiums. I pay copays at cvs so I should get them too!

I gave up that fight. I am still deciding if I want the chipmunk movie but I'm going for my free gum tomorrow. Woooo. :lol I have been slacking around here. I went to the darkside and shopped at wags last week!

That is crap!!
Soldiers are underpaid, I always considered their health benefits to be part of their income package (just cleverly disguised :rotfl:) so that irritates me, too. You don't pay a premium because your employer pays for it. That is how I see it, anyway.

I know CVS won't care but I'll definitely stop filling scripts there (unless I'm getting a gift card, in which I feel as though I'm still benefiting even without the ECBs!) unless they fix this.
Rite Aid and Kroger will be more than happy to fill the scripts for me and Rite Aid has a drive-thru as well.

A lot of my anger is hormonal I'm sure but it still steams me. Nope, it couldn't possibly be that their scanning their own card (since the number on my receipts is NOT mine) it must be because my husband works for the Treasury. :sad2:

You may find they won't honor the coupons either. They have the government wording on there.

And to see if they were lying to you I just checked online about this cause I was curious. It clearly states under the ECB rules that government plans are not eligible. Although your insurance is not a government "program" like medicare, and you contribute to the cost, unless you are paying 100% of the premium the program is a federal goverment sponsored insurance plan and not eligible for ECBs under federal law (the law states if the plan is paid for in whole or in part by state or federal government and has to do with government rebate programs on Rxs which you see no part of but the government does). Stinks, I know, but it's not CVS' fault. You'd find the same thing at any pharmacy.

ETA - the rebate program nets the federal government millions and millions of dollars in savings and cuts the cost of your insurance plan so you do actually benefit from not getting the ECB it's just blind to you as you're not seeing the actual rebate. it's a behind the scenes thing where drug manfuacturers "rebate" a large portion of their drug profits to the government. Think of it as an HMO type discount that saves you money.

I went tonight - not one of my best nights as I was down to $5 in ECB and I couldn't find them before going to the store and there was tons I wanted too - grrrr!

Oh, well, I got $114 worth of stuff for $15 so I can't complain too much. I got the tampax with the BOGO coupon, Head & Shoulders with $1 and BOGO coupon - and the girl gave me the price before the sale - So I got two for $2.99 instead of $3.99. And the Stride.

I also got incredibly lucky and did the P&G/Alvin DVD deal. I'm totally psyched because they thought they were all sold out and were going Substitute New Moon for Alvin. When the girl reached into the New Moon box to get the DVD down she found the last copy of Alvin. :woohoo: New Moon I would have used as a gift by Alvin is one my kdis will watch.

Oh, and Flaky, thank you thank you for doing this thread every week. I had no idea any of this was even possible before I stumbled upon this thread - I only wish I'd found it sooner. I love all the scenarios people post. There are coupons listed that I've forgotten I had and I totally would have missed out on those deals.:worship::worship:

Starting this week you have another reason to post
FREE or ALMOST FREE STUFF

Starting with this weeks post... April 11

I will keep track of the posts. On Wed. I will count the posts. The person who has posted the most "Tips" will win a envelope filled with coupons. Most that are for CVS for Free or almost free things. There will be at least one coupon for something free.. could be a bag of chips, a coke a box of tampons or even toothpaste:laughing: I will also add coupons for items for the next weeks deals. Just a little thank you for making this thread rock.

So, on Wed (April 14 this week) I will send someone a pm asking for mailing info in order to send out the coupons in time to use for the next week.:yay:

***Attention Piecey and hmillerbarilla :yay:***

It's been reported on another site that some CVS stores have Pampers Cruisers Mega packs reg. $17.99 discounted 75% off = $4.59 a pack. Do a price check to verify-YMMV. With the $2 coupon from 3/14 RP this would be a great deal!!!

Hope you can find some. :thumbsup2

I went in today to do the John Frieda deal (buy 15 get 5 ecb). It's been running this week, and with the $3Q and the stuff at $4.99, it was a great deal. Anyways, it printed earlier this week, but didn't today and no sign of it on my receipt. This CVS can be nice, but they have NO idea how to manually print an ecb, so I have to call the number on Monday. Make sure to check your receipts if you do purchase this. Hopefully, the glitch will get worked out for the deal that starts tomorrow.

Ohhhh... I'm going to go check!! I had some Huggies coupons to use at Kmart while they're still doubling so I'm heading out!

Thanks for the tip, there are 2 within a few minutes of my house. Definitely worth the trip! :)

*Eta* nope, not on markdown here. Yet, anyway...

I did get a $2/ Huggies Little Swimmer coupon from the printer, though! Not bad at all.

Yeah pretty much it does make up for the pay :lol I don't mind! After I saw what tricare actually pays for some of those scripts I figure cvs got screwed anyway :rotfl: For $250 worth of meds for my dd last month, they paid out $150 and I paid in $12 in copays. They do the negotiating of prices.

You may find they won't honor the coupons either. They have the government wording on there.

You are right. They aren't supposed to but I made them at cvs once :rolleyes1.

Hubby filled one for himself (base doesn't carry it) and the manager told the employee I don't care what it says, give him the gift card.
