CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 1/20/08-1/26/08

its getting a little clearer..not totaly but not so bad:rotfl2: my dh is looking at me as I am on the computer.:surfweb: .using a pen and paper trying to figure the totals...he thinks i was doing stuff for the taxes...what ever gave him that idea:lmao:

Anyone wanna double check this for me before I go tomorrow?

Transaction 1
Speed Stick x 4 17.96

- 3.00 cvs coup

total 14.96
ECB 13.99

OOP .97
ECB Earned 17.96

Transaction 1
M&M B1G1- x 3 sets 10.47
Gillete Fusion 9.99
Filler 1.52
total 21.97

CVS - 4
- 6.00 Walgreens M&M Coupons buy 2 save $2 (my cvs allows walgreens q's)

total 11.97
11.97 ecb
OOP 0.00

ECB earned $15.00

So I would have started with 13.99 in ECB's, purchased $39.93 in product, for an out of pocket cost of $0.97, and earned a net $15.00 in ECB's

Still working on the rest....but thats it for now...

Transaction 1

where did you find the 3.oo cvs coupon for the deodorant?:)

:sad1: :scared: Why o why cant I figure this out:badpc: you all have been so good here. i know you go over it and overe it agian and agian:teacher: But i am so confused..:headache:
I think i am confused because if I were to buy the exact items listed as someone else got then why is it I end up paying for them...
Example: 2 bottles of tide,5 dawn, 2 valentines m&ms and 5 speed stick..dont I have to pay for the speed stick? I know you get extra bucks back but dont i have to pay for it first? So how do you guys end up just paying a small amount...:guilty:
if an item is Buy one Get one Free and I have a coupon for the same item that is for Buy one Get one free can I use it on the item??? Can I use to coupons for Buy one get one free??? Now are all of you confused? Welcome to my world:rotfl2:

The key is that once you get started, you use your ECB to pay for items that produce new ECB. That minimizes any cost that you pay out of pocket. So, yes, technically you have to "pay" for the mennen deoderant, but you use ECB to "pay" for them, NOT CASH! :cool1:

You want to make sure that with coupons, you are using about the same amount of ECB that you get back so that you can do this indefinitely. Sometimes you can even "make money" with an ECB transaction. For example, with coupons I was able to get the 20 Soy Joy bars, use coupons to get down to $10, pay with $10 ECB. Then I got $20 ECB back! I just converted $10 into $20!

I hope that helps.

Maggie

I just want to point something out that you guys may run into.

At my CVS's (3 I frequent) they will not allow more than 1 CVS "$4/20" 3/15 coupons in 1 transaction. I can see how people can argue it, but this is not the intention of the coupons- the intention is to spend 20 and save 4, not save 4, then 3, then 2.

If you look at your coupons that were posted above, print 2 of them out....read the coupon- it says- "limit one coupon per customer"...technically you can print 500 of them...is it RIGHT for you to use them all? No, its right for you to use the one that you were allowed..

We have a lot of new people on the thread (myself returning from a CVS hiatus) who are banking on stacking these printable coupons. I do not think we should be telling them that this is the proper way to CVS...yes, it's lovely when it works, and if I could I just might ;) but if they are going into their CVS expecting to duplicate someone else's purchases, and they can't stack...they are going to have an entirely messed up transaction...and possibly paying way too much out of pocket.

My suggestion to you that are new, is to go to your CVS, ask to speak to the manager, and ASK...they are going to get called up to override the sytem if they do allow it. If they do not allow it, leave the store, come back and figure out a new transaction plan...you don't "need" to stack these cvs coupons to "CVS"...

oh- as a side note, I do not mean this post in a negative way in any sense of the form! I am just pointing out that maybe we should not be relying on stacking...or at least pointing out to the new people that there mileage may vary...

Brandy

It's good you posted this as there are so many new people - the last two weeks have been an explosion here.

The coupons all work and don't stop the register; however, the $15 off $75 needs a shift-lead/manager card because of the amount. This does not mean you can super-stack! People should always ask first, you don't want to get a young/new cashier in trouble if the store doesn't allow it. Many of them won't even look, they just scan them.

Stores in areas that are building new CVS stores like crazy usually will allow anything and everything the register accepts (and then some). After you see a CVS on every corner in your town, the rules get much tighter, you can almost track the areas on a map.

Writing about super-stacking upsets the people who can't do it or used to be able to do it, or the people who think that if you do it, you'll ruin plain stacking for everyone else (where totals add up, like spend $30 to use a $4/20 and a $2/10).

Newer stores in new CVS markets seem to want this to bring their sales totals up. After they are established, they will get stricter on $/$$ coupons.

CVS has a planned advertising/business model. They know what is going on, it's part of their customer loyalty plan - the hope is that you will stay with CVS for everything and, for now, it's working well. Let's say your store starts saying you can only stack - well, you just will get smarter about your lists. If they allow one coupon per transaction, you'll stay under $20 and so on - you probably won't say, "oh, I am not shopping there anymore."

WooHoo! Got my 10 bags of green M&Ms. My daughter is on a competitive cheerleading team and their colors are lime green and black, so this is great.

Here's my transaction for today:
10 bags M&M's (B1G1)-5*3.49=17.45
1 Double Pack Crest Whitening Rinse-8.99
Total=$27.40
-2/$10 coupon
-4/$20 coupon
-19.95 ECBs
oop=$1.45
ECBs earned=$19

Welcome to our MAD (fun) world!:flower3:

:thanks: thanks for the welcome! Believe me, I'm crazy enough for this for SURE! :upsidedow Can't wait!
Hi hmillerbarilla! You're going to be very good at CVS. I typed out a whole sheet of instructions for you and left some coupons at DMom's house for your Soy Joy run on Tuesday. Good luck! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to get over to Mom's to collect my coupons. Smiller you are a CVS genius. :worship: And now I'm meeting your mentors...:grouphug:

Welcome to the CVS world! I will warn you - it is addictive! You will end up with so much free stuff you won't know what to do with it all! You will have drawers full of free toothpaste, toothbrushes and enough deodorant to make a whole Army batallion smell good :rotfl: Oh and be careful if you are on a diet because the candy deals will derail your weight loss real quick :lmao: Seriously, it is fun and can really help you save a ton of money!

Anyway, welcome again and I hope to see you around posting all your great CVS transactions :)

My DH is already freaked out about the amount of Speed Stick I came home with last night.:crazy2: But once I explained the math :teacher: He can't wait for us to have a drugstore in our linen closet. It is quite fun!:woohoo:

thank you

Now back to my never ending laundry....:laundy: but, I have to first finish checking all my threads :surfweb:

later!:goodvibes

Ok, I am taking a "baby" step here trying to figure out the CVS thing :)

Would this work?

Trip 1
Do the pepsi deal spent 20.00 get 10 ECB
use a 4/20 coupon
use a 1.00 "extra buck" from last fall
total OOP$15

Make a 2nd trip and use the 10 ECB to buy the Cottonelle for $9.99 and get 2ECB

:confused3 :confused3

Yes, you do have a certain OOP cost to start CVSing.

If I may recommend a way to begin this month...

Buy 20 Soy Joy bars = $10
Use $4/$20, $3/$15, and $2/$10 printables found on this thread
Use two $1 off 4 bars printable coupons on soyjoy.com
Pay $9 + tax OOP
Receive $20.00 ECB Soy Joy

Buy 4 Mennen deodorants = $15.96
Buy 2 CVS toothbrushes "full circle" = $5.98
Use $4/$20, $3/$15, and $2/$10 printables found on this thread
Use $20.00 ECB
Pay $1.94 + tax OOP
Receive $15.96 ECB Mennen and $5.98 ECB Toothbrushes

Buy $20 worth of Pepsi products = $20.00
Buy 1 Mennen deodorant = $3.99
Buy at least $0.97 worth of something (maybe your Pepsi total was over $20.97 if you bought chips, etc. so you'd be good)
Use $4/$20, $3/$15, and $2/$10 printables found on this thread
Use $15.96 ECP
Pay $0.00 OOP (or just a few pennies, depending how much over $0.97 you were)
Receive $10.00 ECB Pepsi, $3.99 Mennen

You've spent just over $10.94 OOP and you have $13.99 in ECBs.
But, you also have 20 Soy Joy bars, 5 sticks Mennen deodorant, 2 toothbrushes, 6 12pks of Pepsi, and maybe a 2 Liter, too!

That's how I think through it - use the coupons available right now to your advantage to get your initial OOP cost low, and let the ECBs increase and increase! :thumbsup2
And may I say... I LOVE YOU!! THANKS SO MUCH:hug:

That looks pretty good! :goodvibes

Just make sure your Pepsi all rings up at the correct sale price. When I first went, some of the 12 packs they had in a big display were not part of the 3/$10 deal. :confused3

When you go to buy the Cottonelle, they *might* take the $10 ECB for a $9.99 purchase, they might not, or they might have to "push" it through as $9.99 and not $10.00. Just ask! :thumbsup2

Am I allowed to quote myself if I think of a better deal? :rotfl:

For the second transaction, I'd toss in one of the CVS Full Circle toothbrushes with tongue scraper, bring your total up to $12.98, use a $2 off $10 printable coupon and then pay $0.98 OOP. Then you get $2 ECB AND $2.99 ECB!

Oh, I could go on forever! :rolleyes1

Is your $1 ECB from "last fall" still valid? They usually expire in about a month?

Maggie

Looks good but I would make a few suggestions...

I would make the cottonelle your first trip thru. On that one add in a cheap filler item (pack of gum or candy bar, etc.) and use a $2 off $10 printable coupon http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/promotion?pid=6051&step_nbr=160 Also check your coupons for a Cottonelle coupon or register and print one out here http://www.cottonelle.com/coupons.aspx Less OOP :cool1: Then do your Pepsi scenario but also use the ECBs just earned from your Cottonelle :) You will $10 left in ECBs instead of $2.

Also check the date on your ECB. If it is from last fall it is probably expired (unless you mean the one from your 4th quarter 2007 spending.)

I hope that helps. Whever I do my scenarios, I always look to see what items I can match manufacturers coupons with in order to maximize my savings :)

I did the M&M deal today :)

10 bags of M&Ms 3.49 X 5 (BOGO) = 17.45
5 cans of chef boyardee - $5.00
3 rubber duckies from the clearance section for the baby - $1.08
$23.53
-$4 off of $20
- 19.95 ECB

This is where is gets cloudy, my OOP was 7 cents - but I'm not complaining :)

I got the $15 ECB to roll

As a guideline for some of the newbies, I will explain with what I am going to do to start getting ECBs on my DHs newly acquired card (we each have 1 now)

1st transaction

20 Soy Joy bars ($4 for 20 Free coupons off ebay) - $20
2 CVS toothbrushes - $2.99 each - $5.98
1 Bonus pack of CVS garbage bags - $4.99
1 package of CVS cookies - $.49

Total before coupons - $30.46

Coupons to use (I don't super stack):
$4 off $20
$2 off $10
$2 off $10 CVS brand purchase
$20 (Free SoyJoy)

Total OOP: $2.46 (plus tax & $4 for ebay coupons)

ECBs earned:
$20 - Soy Joy
$2 - CVS garbage bags
$5.98 - CVS toothbrushes
Total ECBs: $27.98 :cool1:

2nd transaction

3 - 12 packs Pepsi products - $10
3 - bags Lays/Doritos - $9
1 - 2ltr bottle Pepsi product - $1.25
5 - 24/7 Mennen deodorants - $3.99 each - $19.95
2 - Bonus packs CVS slider bags - $4.99 each $9.98
1 - pack CVS cookes - $.49

Total before coupons: $50.67

Coupons to use:
$10 off $50
$2 off $10 CVS brand purchase
$27.98 ECBs

Total OOP: $10.23 (plus tax)

ECBs earned:
$10 - Pepsi
$4 - CVS slider bags
$19.95 - Mennen deodorant
Total ECBs: $33.95 :cool1:

So for a total of $16.69 ($12.69 OOP at CVS and $4 for ebay q's), I will have all that stuff plus $33.95 in ECBs to keep rolling :) I will roll these into some M&M deals as well as some of the other monthly deals that we use (especially Cottonelle wipes for my kids.) I think this is a great start for that card!!!

Maggie

That had me confused too, but I think she means that she got a $1 ECB printed on 1/1 from her fall spending. I know that mine hasn't expired yet.

Kimya

My purchase today (only 1 purchase...I'm still WAY jet lagged and could barely keep my eyes open this afternoon at work, but I had some ECBs expiring today and try to avoid having them expire, even though my stores will push them through):

2 bags Green M&Ms, BOGO, $3.49
8 Soy Joy $8
1 Men's Speed Stick 24/7 $3.99
3 Bottles Salon Grafix Professional Freezing Hairspray Clearance for $1.57 each (they were 75%, normally $6.xx)

-$4/20
-$8 Free SoyJoy coupons
-$4 ECB
-$4 ECB
-$3 ECB

total oop .95, but I used a GC, so no OOP

Got back $8 ECB for Soyjoy, $3.99 ECB for deodorant, $3 for M&Ms and a boatload of CRTs, probably because I haven't been in almost 2 weeks. I barely scanned the ad for this week before I went in. I saw the sign for the green M&Ms in the store, but didn't realize they were also BOGO, so I had only picked up 1 bag. Of course, I saw it on the credit card machine screen and it said they were BOGO, so I had to run and get another - and of course, I was on one end of the store, the M&Ms were on another, and there was a line.

I had asked the manager (kinda cute, and a nice guy!) if they had any other flavors of SoyJoy in the back (only Berry was on the shelf) and he said "they only make the 4 flavors". I said what 4 flavors? Berry is the only one out. They had a whole middle aisle dedicated to those bulk pack monthly deals and the SoyJoy display was there. I said thanks and he asked "Are those any good?" I said I'm not sure, I haven't tried them, but I've heard all ends of the spectrum!

Then I swear he was doing his tasks around the store so that he could follow me around! :cool1: :lmao:

Not thinking I purchased the 24/7 all at one time and have an ECB for 19.95. I need a good way to roll this into some smaller amounts, but as to not really lose the value that I already have. Another question---the fusion is on sale this week and next. Both times stating 6 ECB's back. I purchased one yesterday--can I still get one next week and get the ECB'S? Thanks.

If you can find it, Sambucol would be a good way to roll the $19.95 into two $10 ECBs.

I don't know about the Fusion, hopefully someone will test it and return if it doesn't work.
