Day 8

We didn’t get up until 11am this morning. Cuthbert and I had thumping headaches. I told him it must have been something I had eaten, his was due to the whisky. I was hungry but Dixie was adamant that there was no time to eat and that we would be having lunch soon. We had to get a taxi to the Magical Kingdom as the queue at the bus station was huge. The taxi driver refused to take us to the Disney bus station and instead took us to the Transport place and directed us to the monotrain and boat. The children went on the boat and Cuthbert and I went on the monotrain. I wanted to disembark at the Grand Floridian but the blasted thing didn’t stop, just whizzed right by. We met the children at the table where security have a nosey at your possessions and then we went inside.

There were some characters out that I wanted to meet so we joined the queue at the front and I met Pluto puppy, his Uncle Goofster, Donald Duckster, Dopeyness, Snowy White and Cinderella. Cuthbert wanted to meet Ariel but I told him she had swam away and wouldn’t be back for some time. Dixie was becoming increasingly frustrated with us as we were going to be late for our lunch.

I admit to having a little panic attack when she took us to the Crystal Chandelier restaurant. Fortunately they didn’t seem to remember us from our last visit so we would be alright. I sat Cuthbert in at the window and explained to the waitress that he has a phobia of fur and could she please instruct the characters to ignore him. This worked well for us. The children enjoyed the characters and enjoyed it very much when Tiggy sat next to me and fed me some of my food. Dixie was kind enough to video it. We also had fun with the horse. I told him he should smile and would he like some coke to help him. He declined. Winnie came along next and caused all sorts of problems. She signed Amos’s book as Pooh and I explained to her that her name was Winnie and would she please write Winnie. She made gestures of confusion and I screamed “Winnie, it rhymes with honey” In the end I wrote it on the table and she copied it into the book. Honestly I don’t know where they educate these characters. Piggles was adorable. She sat on Amos and we all pretended to have lost him. Amos was laughing heartily as was Dixie. It was so nice to see my children having so much fun. It was nice as I sometimes feel they act older than their age. Whilst all this was happening Cuthbert looked out the window and didn’t interact but when the music started and the characters went skipping to fly their kites he was off like a rocket to join them. He knocked the children over on his way and skipped round the tables holding Piggles hand!!! What a successful family lunch.

The sun was shining and burning very hot when we exited and I was tired but Cuthbert insisted I was NOT having a stroller. I don’t know what his problem was, I wasn’t expecting him to push it, the children are quite capable. Tried another tactic and told him the children required one and he screamed at me that they are 7 and 9 now and far too old for a stroller. I went in a huff and followed the children to It’s A Small World. I love this little boat ride and the endearing song. We were fortunate enough for the boat to break down whilst we were on it and I was able to put the children onto a ledge so I could get a picture of them beside the dolls. This is very much frowned upon by the hired help I can tell you. They were extremely angry. I told them I would ensure Cuthbert would not do anything so silly again. Cuthbert wanted to see the parade but I couldn’t be bothered so I told him it was cancelled due to inclement weather approaching and we went to the Grand Prix race where we had to wait in a queue for 45 minutes. This was fun but the lack of speed was a little disappointing. Next Dixie and I rode Space Hill. The queue was 90 minutes long so I told the lovely hired help person that we had fast passes for the ride but a bird stole them when we were eating lunch and we were allowed to enter. After 5 minutes we were on and had a blast being sent into orbit. Cuthbert and Amos went on the blue thing that travels through Space Hill and as we were nearing the boarding area we could here Cuthbert screaming that the car was going to fast and to please make it stop.

Tooncity carnival was next to meet the characters. The children joined the huge queue whilst I browsed in the shop and when they were near the front they called my cellular telephone and Cuthbert and I joined them. We met Minnie who was so excited to meet me, bless, she even asked me where I purchased my beautiful designer bag. Had fun with Chip and Dick and we all laughed heartily as we played football with Cuthbert’s satchel. Next we entered the princess room and Cuthbert had a smile on his face, he proposed to Belle who turned him down by telling him she was with the beast, he replied that he was too!!! When we got outside I accidentally on purpose dropped my pen and kneed Cuthbert in the face when he picked it up.

Got on the steam engine and travelled to the wild west to go to Splash Mountain. Once Amos realised where we were going he started to cry. As we neared the entrance a hired help asked him if he was alright. I told her that he was very upset as he had lost our fast passes and didn’t think he would get to ride as the queue was so long. She took us straight to the loading area. I thanked her profusely. Amos and Cuthbert were both crying when we disembarked and were extremely wet. Dixie and my good self were fine and dry as I put up my umbrella when we went down the big hill. The photograph is superb. I look like Mary Pappins.

Thundering Hill was next and we were very lucky to have a lovely family give us their fast passes as their children were too scared to ride. I thanked them most profusely and we entered the ride. Cuthbert was under strict instructions to hold onto his hair and Dixie held onto Amos. Everyone enjoyed this immensely and once Cuthbert had vomited we went to the Liberty Place to have dinner with some characters. This was very pleasant and Michael sat with us for 10 minutes. He said it was nice to sit with a high class family.

After dinner we rode on a cruise through the deep dark jungle and Cuthbert was bitten by the python as we sailed by. I laughed heartily at the skippers jokes as no-one else did and I felt if he was willing to humiliate himself for our benefit then it was only fitting that I should reward him.

We were all so tired that we had to leave before the fireworks. Cuthbert really wanted to see them. I pointed out to him that had he hired myself a stroller then he could have stayed!!! When we got to the bus station we discovered that the Popular stop was miles away so we walked over to the Contemporary railway station and got a taxi. Very soon we were back and we had to go to the market to collect Amos’s monorail set from the cashier. Cuthbert had to go the left luggage place and have them bring it to us on a luggage trolley.

I was so very tired I went to bed. The children went for a swim and Cuthbert went to the bar, returning at closing.
