Cutest thing happened at Target today....

Went there with DH, who was in his Air Force BDU's (cammies) at the time. I had to catch up with him as I needed a restroom break (always!). Caught up and he zoomed ahead of me as usual with his long legs and headed to the Toiletry Aisles for razors....that's when I noticed......

A little boy chasing after DH and his Mom telling him that he couldnt follow him. (DH was oblivious) I winked at her and offered I could arrange for her son to take DH home! (Hey, you feed a 31 yo 6'1" with a high metabolism!)

Caught up with DH and told him. He was not as touched...I'm the softy. As we went in and out of the aisle I could hear the boy "whisper" there he is. As we turned out of the aisle a final time the woman asked politely if her son could shake DH hand so her son would allow her to finish her shopping. My husband obliged and the little boy was thrilled. The woman and I exchanged a wink and a smile as we walked away.

We dont live in a military town. DH is an ROTC instructor at a university right now, so the uniform is out of place in our area, but it was just so cute. I really think the little boy thought he was GI Joe!

That's a great story!!

I know I've been touched by the number of people who have come up to my DH to thank him for his service, and had others thank me (and him) when I've used my military ID for checks and stuff. This never used to happen, and it really does make him feel good to know that folks really do appreciate him and his life's work.
