I am planning a non sleepover, sleepover for my dd's party. I am at a loss. I need something cute that explains the party. I want the guests to know to wear pj's and bring a pillow and/or sleeping bag but that they won't be spending the night. Does anyone know of any websites that might help in coming up with the wording? (or does anyone feel really creative?;) ) I thought the invitations would be the easy part.

How about "we're having a not so slumber party for daughter's birthday!!!"

You are invited to share the fun!

Time: 6 - 9pm
Where: Your address
RSVP: Date and phone #
Please bring your pillow and/or sleeping bag...

Hope this helps!

What about calling it a pajama party?

Pajama Party with specific times on the invite...add a specific pick up time.:cloud9:

Could you explain exactly what you'll be doing at the party for me? It would help me help you. Activities planned, why you want PJs and a pillow and/or sleeping bag...

I got these from http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com; it isn't complete information, but it might give you some ideas.

Pajamas are not just for sleeping anymore, so get dressed in your favorite PJs, grab your teddy bear and your blanket and help celebrate Hunter's second birthday.

The invitation was on a "pillow case", a pillow found on my Hallmark Greetings software, with invitation information printed on it. The girls were all invited to come dressed in pajamas and slippers and to bring a pillow!

I would consider changing the theme..... I think this might be confusing to alot of people. Pajamas = Sleepover, especially when you are asking them to bring sleeping bags.

Make it a dance party, dress in your favorite color, make your own pizza....just something else.

We will be doing the same things that would be done at a slumber party, only they will not be spending the whole night. My dd is turning 8 and she desperately wants a sleepover party but I just think that she is a bit too young for one so this was our compromise. None of the children in her class (who we have know for years) have ever had a sleepover so this will be new for all of them.

The plan is to eat pizza, have cake, do a craft and/or game then finish the evening watching a movie on the living room floor with our pillows and sleeping bags (and popcorn of course) It is scheduled from 5 - 9 on a Saturday.

Cource it was with cute lettering, etc.

We almost had one for my DD turning 8, but then I caved. We're doing the real thing. But we've had a couple of the girls sleep over already before, and I know a few others have had sleepovers with other friends, so I don't think this will be a breakthough event.

We were going to call it an "Almost Sleepover".

I would do something like this

Janie's turning 8!!!!!
Come celebrate with us at our ALMOST sleepover
When: Sat., Jan. 27, 5-9pm
Where Janie's house
What to Wear/Bring: Wear your PJs and bring your sleeping bag-
we'll be lounging around with snacks and a movie!

Hope to see you there!!!!

I don't think it's confusing - I think it's cute!:)

Around here they aren't called 'sleepovers' unless you actually sleep over........what you're describing would be called 'late night' around here.
So, the invitation might say - "Bring your cozy jammies for a late night at....."

I had one of these for my daughter's 8th birthday! We put on the invitations "You're invited to a pajama party (not a sleepover!)"Then the times, etc. This way it was clear up front. Same reasoning as you-these girls hadn't started sleepovers yet. Also, we had about ten girls-I don't think ten girls would have worked for a sleepover!
Our activities were pizza, make your own ice cream sundaes, craft (decorating a pillow case with fabric paint/stamps), nail polish with little decals/gems, a few games, ended with a movie and popcorn.
It was a lot of fun!

I didn't tell them to bring sleeping bags, though-just stuffed animals, and I put down sleeping bags and floor pillows in the room where they watched the movie.

One thing I did that my daughter liked was to make a pillowcase for her, I stamped on it Happy 8th Birthday Allison and then all the guests signed their names with fabric markers. She still uses the pillowcase.

Have fun at your party!!:)

Out of everyone's suggestions, I like these best:

MY FAVORITE-- "Bring your cozy jammies for a Late Night Pajama Party!"

- "You're invited to a PRETEND sleepover!"

- "You're invited to a Pajama Party (not a sleepover!)"

Whatever you choose I think it needs to be very explicit that it is NOT a sleepover. You don't want to be so subtle in the wording that people might not pick up on it; sometimes people just quickly glance at things like that and may be under the impression that it is a sleepover (even though if they read more closely they'd see it wasn't).

The second two I mentioned above are very explicit, but I just really like the sound of the first one. If you use that one however, if it were me I would still feel a bit better if I made a small notation either where you put the time of the party or at the bottom of the invite that says "Please note: this is not a sleepover, just a pajama-themed party!"

Hope your daughter has a great time! popcorn:: :happytv: :3dglasses

OK this is what I came up with. I passed it around to several coworkers today who didn't know the theme and they were understood right away that it wasn't an over night event.

"Come to the non-slumber, slumber party, it's gonna be great!
Come help us celebrate Madie turning 8!

There will be food, games, crafts and more. We'll cap off the evening with a movie on the living room floor.

Wear your PJ's, bring your pillow, we'll have great fun, but you get to go home before the night is done."

Followed by the date and time, including a pick up time. Thanks so much for all the great ideas!
