Cut backs at Crystal Palace

We were there in Oct/Nov - Had good food. But cast at door were quite inflexible about letting us wait just inside the door (very cold morning 8.30am) made to stand outside with DS 3 ( no one else waiting) not very child friendly approach and I pointed this out to them to be met with silence!!

We have always done CP lunch and dinners. We have always loved it. The last time we were there was this past late August. It had not changed. Everything was as good as always. I am planning to make an adr there for upcoming Aug trip. I hope i'm not dissapointed. I think they have the best salads.

Yes, the breakfast lasagne is gone and it was my favorite thing there. Crystal Palace has been our first morning tradition for 20 years so I really hate to give it up. I wish they would leave the long time favorites alone and "cut back" somewhere else.

Oh no! I made breakfast ADR's there for next month, just because DH loves the breakfast lasagna (not that I remember even what it was haha)

So much for one of my "surprises" (we did this on our honeymoon)

I feel your pain! I have an ADR for next month as well and now I'm definitely thinking of canceling. Boo! :(

Oh no, this is one of our favorites! Anyone know if the Corn Spoon Bread, Adobo Pork and Chicken and Mushroom Pasta are still there? Those were some of my favorites!

We ate breakfast there in December and it and Tusker House were both fantastic - servers were great, characters were great, a lot of variety on the breakfast buffet - we will definately go back to both CP and Tusker again.

However... we ate at Chef Mickeys for Breakfast - terrible. Bad server, buffet not that great, felt rushed. We will NOT go back to Chef Mickeys. Bad all around.

LOVE Crystal Palace and Tusker House though :)

Awww, crap. I'm not even gonna tell DH this close to our trip...

Oh no! This is terrible to hear! I've never done a character meal before and was planning to do the CP because Pooh and friends are my favorite.

While I'm interested in the character interaction, I'm definitely not so interested in paying $$$ for scrambled eggs!

Forgive my not knowing - are Pooh and others at any other character breakfasts?

Are there are other inside MK breakfast spots people would recommend?

Just there and breakfast selections and food were wonderful, much more than scrambled eggs - and the breakfast lasagna was not that good.

Choices included an omelet station with eggs cooked to order, sausage, bacon, hash, ham, french toast, pancakes, waffles, donuts, muffins, breads, pastries, bagels, fruit, and much more.

I did not find it "cut back" at all and we eat there every year

We were there twice in Nov.,and have been going first night and last night for dinner for the last 3 years-The salmon was STILL to die for;and I don't even like salmon!Everything else was as good as usual;did'nt really notice that anything was amiss??:confused3

:( I hope all of this isn't true...We really enjoyed our CP lunch back in 2009 and have an ADR in March for Dinner now. I guess the only way to find out for sure is to go and see for yourself!

We had dinner at CP last time...I didn't feel anything was lacking in the selection. I too thought the salmon was incredible, and Hannah fell in love with a minted couscous salad. She went up for thirds which is unheard of for her. We're not huge Pooh fans (anymore...Hannah's nursery was classic Pooh) but there's something about CP that keeps drawing us back.

Had dinner at CP in mid December, and we eat dinner here every trip.

My beloved Adobo Pork is gone, but the salmon, chicken pasta, carved meats, roasted corn spoon bread (yum!) peel & eat shrimp, and all the salads
were still there. The pork was the only thing I noticed missing, as well as fewer selections on the dessert tables. One of my new favs is the Mediterranean chicken, not much to look at but a great feta cheese flavor.

We always do CP for lunch on every trip and enjoy it.

There is no doubt that Disney is doing cut backs on food selections (number of choices) and food quality (ie. smaller shrimp, cheaper cuts of meat) since the DDP came out, especially the free DDP offered with some resort stays.

The restaurants are receiving less for their meals under the DDP, so the cutbacks have to come from somewhere to keep the food costs down. (FYI, food cost not only includes the cost of the raw food product, but everything it takes to get it to the table, including payroll).

That's bad if the food/service has gotten worse. We've tried it twice and the food and service was HORRIBLE both times.

I hope not we really enjoy having lunch there. The selection was nice before. Quite a good variety for lunch. I've never done dinner there or breakfast. Lunch is busy enough.

My wife loves the bread pudding. Hope that's still there!

We had lunch there last week. The kids section had mac n cheese, green beans and meatballs. On the regular buffet line they had chicken nuggets, which I wished they'd put on the kids line so you could get it without waiting in the whole line.

Let me try to recall what else was on the regular line: rolls, fruit, couscous salad, green salad, cold cuts cheese, corn spoonbread, broccoli, ratatoilli, rice (which was hard as a rock), pizza, fritatta, curry chicken, roast chicken, salmon and then a carving station with ham or flank steak. There were more options on the cold bar than what I listed, but I skimmed by that section so that's what I remember.
