Customs

I just read this on the Montreal Airport website:
http://www.admtl.com/passager/formalites/ConnectingFlight.aspx
If your flight originated in Canada and you have a boarding pass for a connecting flight to a U.S. destination, you must follow the U.S. connections signs, go through pre-boarding screening, and then go through U.S. Customs. Your checked luggage will be transferred automatically by the baggage handling system. Note, however, that U.S. Customs officers are authorized to recall your luggage, if necessary, for manual inspection. If the Customs officers do not yet have the information on your luggage at hand, you will be asked to proceed to the waiting area.

Now I'm really confused whether we collect our luggage in Montreal or not? I keep hearing/reading different thing

We just did this clearance end of November except our origin was Ottawa. THe AC agent advised us that Montreal is the only airport that will transfer your luggage for you. We had 1 hour 34 minutes between flights, it was a really long walk to US Customs and then another 45 minutes in line at US Customs, but they had a person checking peoples flights so as they would not miss their connection and if you were close they pulled you out of line. But if you are Halle Berry you will have no issues at all and a police escort:rotfl2:

Vancouver transfers the luggage as well (or it did in October). Only CAN-US though, not on the way back home.
