I followed a link on this board once and downloaded a bunch of really cute custom made autograph pages. They are specific to the character and they are 4x6 size. I printed them off on thick cardstock so they are a bit heavier. I am bringing blank ones too (same cardstock) incase I didn't print off a particular character that we run into. Anyway, my question is............how do you travel with them and is it a pain when you see a particular character to rummage through and find "their" page to have them sign? Is this going to be a major PITA? I have around 30 different ones and they are alphabetized (so I can find one quicker). I thought about punching a hole in each corner and putting them on a ring claspie thingie (YKWIM??), but then when I go to put them in the book later, they will look dumb with the hole there. Maybe a big huge paperclip and keep the whole stack in a quart size ziplock bag? Just wondering if others have had preprinted autograph pages and how they maneuvered them. Also, will 30 pieces of cardstock stacked together be a strong enough surface for them to sign on? Thanks to any and all that can help! I think maybe I worry too much?

What was the link? Sound like a cute idea. I'm tired of the small blue books.

Your plan can work, but it might be a little crazy at times. Did you print the pages onto card stock or regular paper? The pages will hold up better on the card stock. You might want to cut out a piece of cardboard that is the size of your pages. The cardboard might make it easier for the characters to write on the stack of pages. Or you can use a small clipboard.

I would definitely make some blank pages. You can use the blank pages for characters that aren't on your printed ones and also in case you just can't find the printed page that you need. Also, many times you will see the same characters in different parks - so the blank pages would come in handy! My sons like to get autographs from wizard Mickey (MGM), regular Mickey (MK) and safari Mickey (AK).

There are character greeting areas where you will be able to get your pages ready. But there are also times when you just run into a character when you are walking down the street and the kids want to quickly get an autograph. There is not always time to get the autograph books opened to the correct page.

Lastly be aware that sometimes the characters drop the books and goof around with the kids. Sometimes the books get opened to the wrong page. I've had characters sign on the back of a page that was already signed, etc.

Hope that helps! :sunny:

I would love the link too, I'm trying to find new ways for DS to get autographs, the blue books are getting old.

I make autograph books like this for my DS. I use cardstock and disney clip art that I downloaded. My son is young enough that he can't read so he loves have the characters sign by their pictures. We then have them bound and we have had no problems with them. The cardstock is thick enough when in a stack plus we have the characters sign in different color Sharpies and it doesn't bleed through. I put the characters in alphabetical order. Normally, there is a line so I find the character for him while we are in line and it hasn't really been that big of a pain. Plus, the characters always make a big deal about seeing their pictures which my DS feel special. It takes time but it is definitely worth it to see my DS jumping around.

That is the link (if it doesn't show up as a link since I don't know how to do that, just copy and paste into your browser). The first picture is actually the instructions on how to save to your computer as the right size. I just double clicked on the image, saved it to "My Pictures" and then opened Word and inserted 2 per page and printed them out. Then I would delete the 2 that were there and insert 2 more, print, then delete those, and repeat. Does this make sense? There are a TON of them. They are really really cute too. Have fun!

Check the Creative design board in the Just for Fun section on the Disboard index.

I take my autograph books to Office Depot where they bind all of the character cards with a spiral binding. The kids can each chose a different color spiral.Last year I did this with DD's travel journal. This year I'm doing both the travel journal and the autograph book.

Get a small clipboard to put the pages on for a "desk" for the characters to sign.

We do something similar for our kids autograph books.
We take 5x7 blank, white index cards and print out characters from downloads, clipart, scanned pictures. Then hole punch them to fit in a 5x7 3ring binder. We decorate a card stock page to fit in the front and back cover with lettering and scrapbook Disney materials. And title it like "DD & DS 2006 Halloween Trip to WDW". So it's like a little scrapbook for them. We bring along a Sharpie to sign with. All the characters love seeing their picture in it and the kids really get a lot of attention over it.
We keep our characters together in similar groups, like all the same movie characters together.

I always take autograph cards for my kids that are created for each character -

we pull out the card for the character we are meeting and put it on a small clipboard (you can buy them at office max for about $2) we also use a sharpie so the characters can easily sign them

when we get home we put them in a photo album along with the pictures of my kids with the characters - it is the perfect scrapbook of our trip and my kids look at their autograph books almost every day

definately make sure that you put your kids names on the pages or if you are celebrating something special - the characters will write personal messages and if they are face characters call your kids by name or talk to their celebration -

on our first trip my daughter was a little shy with the characters but the pages really encouraged her to meet them - she became determined to complete her collection!!

Oh my oh my!

Hey guys - just had a tip off from a friend that there was a thread about my autograph book pages and thought I'd come take a look!

I'm glad you all like them :thumbsup2

I used them last November on my wedding trip and me (29) and my new DH (27) got sooo much interaction with the characters that I had to share them with everyone on the DIS.

I pasted mine into a journal in alphabetical order so it was easy to find the characters - and I did it while waiting in line so I wasn't being a PITA when I got to the front. (Facing pages only so that photos could be stuck in afterwards on the blank pages)

When I went to see Flik I couldn't find the page... the CM saw me looking through the pages and I told her that I was sure I had Flik but it was ok he could sign a blank page - she pulled me out of the line and made me find it! It was stuck to another page - then she put me back in front with Flik! I was so glad I found the page because he lapped it up - kissing me and the book and showing the CM his picture - and being scared of the Hopper picture on the page!

I think if we do autographs again this year I will do the clipboard method that Kate uses. Then you can leave the signed pages in your room and it'll be easier to scrap them when you get home.

I hope everyone has fun with the pages - and I would love it if you could share stories and photos of when you get back from your trips.

I have made custom things to sign in the past ans have been disappointed because I could'nt find that character. So this year I used my sizzix machine (which cuts shapes for scrabooking) and cut 3x5 tags and bright colors for them to sign. I used a small clipboard and a wide point black marker. The kids got into choosing who got which color (even Aladin got into it.."oh oh! I get purple!")
The kids thought that wsa great fun. I was surprised this year when I went to they typical haunts I used to find character and found they had been moved. The CM's would say "oh the map has not been changed yet" I went on wild goose chases to find the incredibles, was sent from MGM to MK tomorrowland only to be told "oh they are not making any appearances now" . I have learned the hard way, not to plan on seeing anyone execpt the fab five, and very common ones. Don't know if this helps but have a great time!!!!

Janet

Thanks You! Thank You!
Those are wonderful and I can't wait to print them off and use them. The pictures are so cute and I love the borders around them.

rosiejo, I have a question. Did you make those pages yourself? Or did you find them on the internet? I am just wondering because if you found them on the internet, where did you find them (if you made them they are sooooo cute).
