A new "Curves" place opened in my area. The cost is $39 per month unless I sign up for a year then $29 per month plus $80 to start-up (I believe 160+ if I don't sign up for a year).

I am looking to shape up. Does it work? Would you highly recommend it? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Carole

Carole:

Do it, DO IT, DO IT !!!

I have been going to Curves for almost 3 months. At my 2-month measure, I had lost a total of TWENTY INCHES!! I would/could never have done that without Curves!

I hate exercise. The only thing I usually do is walk/run on my treadmill, which is good for helping with weight loss, but doesn't do a whole lot for toning the body. ;)

Curves has really helped. I'm wearing smaller clothes and getting compliments on my appearance! Plus, it's totally mindless exercise -- you don't have to count reps or keep track of how much weight to set the machine at. You just go and do it! The most difficult thing is counting your three times around the circuit! :p

They will usually let you try it for a week before you commit, so you might want to check it out first.

Carole, I just joined Curves last Saturday, and I have done it every day since (except for Sunday because they are closed here). I can't yet tell you about any amazing results, because it's too soon. What I will tell you is that I love it! Love it! I already love to exercise and am a regular walker and was doing some light weights and aerobics too, before I started Curves. I am going every morning, at 6:00 a.m. when they open, and am finding it is just a great way to start my day. You only do each station for 30 seconds, and the time just flies by. You move from exercise to exercise so quickly that there is no time to get bored! I also like that Curves will be where I weigh each week (no sneaking on the scale at home during the week), and they help me keep track of my measurements too! Why don't you ask if you can try it free for a few days? That should give you a sense of what the program is like, and if it's for you.

Carole - that's a good price too! I signed up for a year and pay $39 a month. (I think the sign-up fee was only $59 though)

I am a Curves fan too - I joined in September and lost 9 1/2 lbs & 9 3/4 inches in the first month! It's also a comfortable place to exercise (he-he - no men!) It's not the traditional gym though - you do the circuit - that's it. Amazing results for those who use it! (combined with a new food program - whatever diet - most women lose weight; for those who don't need to lose weight - not too many at the one I go to - their muscles get toned!)

Most Curves let you try before you buy - I say try it!
